But Swift has sorta crossed over into the indie-fawning territory that's recently been inhabited by Lana--especially after Norman Fucking Rockwell. Folklore and Evermore are great records. Also, big shoutouts to Aaron Dessner. Dude's had a great career.
The line early on with Taylor was "Did you know she writes all of her own songs?" And that never meant much to me. To show what a meaningless metric that is, Nickelback also writes all of their own songs.

But then she started doing stuff like Shake it Off and Blank Space, playing off of her own image and what people thought about her. That's when I was like respect.

I think if anyone questions her ability as a songwriter after Folklore and Evermore that they're really not giving her her due.

On a separate issue — King Gizzard's productivity is astounding. Don't like their latest? Just give 'em a few months

To the bold, I think that only ever really meant anything in the context of artists who emerged from the Nashville/country scene. Country superhits have basically been written by committee for a couple decades now (Jason Isbell still makes jokes about this pretty regularly), so a young girl coming into the scene writing her own stuff was kind of a novelty.

I agree with you overall, though. It didn't mean much to me because all the people I was listening to wrote their own stuff.

And as far as my favorite prolific musician, it used to be Ryan Adams. Now I don't know.

Osees / Thee Oh Sees / Oh Sees / Whatever they’re calling themselves this month are probably my current prolific fave, although King Gizzard is up there, too

Osees went on hiatus a few years back. That lasted six months lol
