Yeah it was my understanding that this bullshit was big in bigger cities a few years ago and it’s just now trickling down to mid major cities like Albany, Hartford, etc.

it's basically like facebook but limited to just your neighborhood.

sometimes it's awesome (100+ post thread about keeping non-neighborhood people out of the neighborhood park, because most likely they're there to fake an injury in order to sue the HOA)

sometimes it's irritating (today it was a lady bitching about another bank opening in my town). ah, the classic complaint, yet another one of those dang **checks notes** BANKS opening in our town. she said they should open up a store instead. just "store." nothing further. she went on to elaborate that since dress barn closed and kohl's is "probably closing," she just doesn't have anywhere to shop anymore. how a retail store would fit into the footprint of a retail bank, well, she's an idea woman, leave that kind of stuff to the engineers.

sadly that's my old neighborhood. my new neighborhood is almost exclusively "WATCH OUT: caught these suspicious people on my security cam" posts, and invariably it's some person the poster forget they hired to do some kind of work around their house.

It just amazes me that even though there is bright orange fencing around the play ground parents allow their kids on it . What if it isn't bolted? You don't know!!!!
The playground is NOT ready for use.. in the event you couldn't figure that out with common sense.

Love it.

But most of the posts are alerting of traffic issues due to a moose/large animal in the road, bear sightings, something preying on chickens, etc.

Somebody decided to completely cover the toilet seat in tp before taking a shit at work (germaphobe?) and decided to leave the seat completely covered in toilet paper after they were done.

Look, I get covering the seat in tp to sit on while you do your business. That's fine. But at least have the decency to flush all that tp down the toilet when you are done.

I still subscribe to my old neighborhood. after we moved, a new dude moved in (not to our specific old house) and really upped the ante.

first post was under the heading "companion." which ended up actually just being a call for people to go out and drink together.

followed up with "workout partner," which was him saying that he has a planet fitness membership and wanted someone to help motivate him. "I would prefer a female but I need help so anyone who has extra time."

he put together an apparently well-attended bar outing via his extremely weird posts, but at 2:00 am the night of the outing he posted:

"Massage needed. does anyone know anyone who does massages that might still be up."

my town has a buy-nothing fb page...apparently its a nationwide thing...

it can actually be pretty cool. Someone has something in their house that they don't use anymore and instead of throwing it away, they put it up on the town's buy nothing page and people put their proverbial names in a hat and then the person picks a winner.

people put some great things up - skis, lawn mowers, kids clothing, etc. Given that i live in a fairly well-to-do town, you can get some great stuff on there.

but you also have to wade through the crap. sometimes people put up things like half empty boxes of pasta, broken lamps, or tattered clothing from the 1980's. my recent favorite was a lady who offered up a 1000 piece puzzle....but she said "it's missing a few pieces." who the hell would want an incomplete puzzle??

sometimes i want to post snarky comments on the ridiculous items that are offered up but it's definitely not that kinda page and i'd probably get banned

obviously bigfoot is ridiculous but if by some crazy chance i saw one (lol) my whole world view would be fucking shattered. I wouldnt know whats what

even more so for ghosts, I dont believe in anything supernatural so if I saw a ghost I think I'd go insane
