When you inadvertently spend money but it turns out to be for the best.
Ex 1: My company signed us all up for an opt-out 401k back in June. I never had signed up for it myself, so I'm glad they did it (they sent out emails detailing the move, but the subject was something about "important update to the retirement plan" and I wasn't in the retirement plan so I just never read it. If I'd read it, I probably would've opted out). But at the same time, I miss that money now. I know it's for the better though.
Ex 2: Back in October I got a huge paycheck, worked a ton of OT. I paid my student loan bill on time and figured that since I had a ton of extra money I'd pay November's payment, too! Except the bank just counted it as an "extra payment" so now I owe November's too. Again, it's for the better, as it was a straight up hit to the principal with no interest, but I wish it had counted for November as I'd intended.
Fuck.
