Just in case anyone cares, both the head of HR and Director just approved a raise and we're going to bring in a temp to help me out (due to my help being on FMLA). Also, no more than 40 hours per week for this guy, and no more late nights (once we get the temp). My myriad concerns have been noted. Still in search of other employment. I received a read receipt before I could recall the email. I forgot that some people actually check their email after hours, and get fancy things like push notifications on their phones as soon as they receive an email. Silly me. No further entertainment from me at this point. I know you were all hoping for more entertainment at my expense, and I'm not sorry to disappoint.

edit: I'm still leaving when my help gets back from FMLA; looking like July. I was very firm. Nice to be lied to and told how important I am and begged to stay.

That makes sense because the kids are involved. Are you on contract? Is PA an at will employment state?

PA is indeed employment at will. The 60 day notice being mentioned is more than likely a part of the union contract.

it's actually a dept of education standard/guideline...not sure if it's law. But technically if you leave before the 60 days, the district can escalate to PDE, who can revoke your certification for "abandoning" the children

I've worked at 3 places (post college).

The first place, I gave 2 weeks.

The second place, I was there 13 years and gave 6 weeks notice. Mainly because I wanted to stick around long enough to still get a bonus I was eligible for.

The current place, I have 7 days left of my 8 week notice. They still haven't found a replacement, so I said I'd give them some hours here or there to help cover my work + train replacement. My boss was really good to me when I started (I was pregnant when I started here and my son was born 10 weeks premature - 5 days after my hire date. She let me take 12 weeks, which was longer than our originally negotiated time off (@ hire, we agreed to 8 weeks, but since he was in the hospital, I wanted more time with him) So, I tried to help her out by giving her time to find my replacement, but that part just hasn't happened).

Did this once, and because of that, I was eligible for unemployment too (left a job without another one).

At my employer, if you go to a competitor, they walk you out the same day. Otherwise, 2 weeks is the expected notice.

This is the best and something I was counting on for my last 2 jobs that I left. I worked with sensitive data and anyone else in that type of position who left was asked to leave immediately (for obvious reasons). I was not so lucky. That was very irritating.

Is this just an Albany, NY thing or do other cities have swarms of assholes riding in illegal ATV and Dirtbike gangs? It's so bad here, it is making me want to move, and that's just from the noise. These idiots are so unsafe; they ride over sidewalks, lawns, they block traffic and are just an extreme nuisance. The cops here, (who are a whole different WIY post for another time) say they can't pursue these people out of safety for the riders (fuck em) and pedestrians/civilians (understandable). Its fucking mayhem with no solution in sight. Makes my city appear ghetto AF as well.

Saw something exactly like that in downtown Atlanta once several years ago. Whole gang of dirtbikes, motorcycles, and ATVs came plowing down the street, weaving around traffic, cutting onto the sidewalks to get around cars, doing wheelies. Pretty brazen. I'm not in town that often so can't say how much that happens.
