I'm glad you guys are liking it. I wasn't sure how interesting it would be given that I had already posted the interview in text form a couple years ago. But I had the recording and now that we're doing this podcast thing it seemed like a good fit for an episode.

It's the tapers that won't let us trade their songs in mp3. They're the ones being unreasonable. The mods are just respecting the tapers.

I would argue that the content, not the format, makes our podcast unlistenable.

Wha...? I was trying to help someone download the podcast. I'm not talking about downloading songs/shows And upon second thought, I think they're .m4a, not .mp3. But regardless... podcasts are lossy... big time.

I don't blame Batson for anything, in the end the band is completely responsible for what it puts out.

Batson seems so full of shit to me. Sure he has a lot of diverse musical knowledge, and appreciation, but I got the impression from the interview that he was trying to sell himself more than anything. He comes across to me as more of a promoter than a producer.

I also liked the admission by our interviewer that he was really excited about the soon to be released Stand Up after having heard 40 seconds of it.

Actually, I was at a pre-release listening party in Charlottesville two months prior to the albums released, and heard nearly all the tracks. But it must be nice to know it all like you.

I'm sorry. I didn't mean to offend, just taking a jab in jest. I sure don't know everything, and I respect all that antsmarching does, and the knowledge, interest, and expertise of those running its operation. I think the podcasts are great, and I do appreciate all the great info the site provides.

I like a lot of the Stand Up album, and I think it was a musical shift the band needed to explore. I just see and hear how much it is criticized - and I thought it interesting to hear that someone did seem to like it, at least early on.

I had the same feeling, after several years of listening, and then hearing Batson describe how it came together, the whole structure makes sense.

Hey guys, regarding audio quality, Leo Leporte (TWIT.com) has a great write up on how he does podcasts over telephony/Skype. He has some great detail on his set-up and since he is a professional radio guy has great tips on maxing audio quality. Please don't take this as being critical (I actually have no idea how to do it myself) but I thught I might poinyt out a good resource to helpo you out.

I really enjoyed the pod cast (keep them coming!!). I have mixed feeling on Batson - I think he did a great job at adding another level of confidence to DMB, but I also think he’s full of it. For some reason I don’t get the feeling that he’s truly a great DMB fan; I felt like he was just being a businessman or politician - trying to win over the respect of the DMB fan base.

Has everyone seen the DVD side of the DualDisc for Stand Up? It is basically a 20 interview on the same topics – but from DMB’s viewpoint.

Well I'll go out on the ledge and say I liked the creative process for Stand Up. I like that every member of the band was included. It took a lot of pressure off of Dave for one thing and brought some new direction for the band. Some songs I didn't love (Hunger For the Great Light) and some I absolutely adore (You Might Die Trying)

And if you look at Stand Up as a starting point for these songs, not the final word, I think it's a success. The songs are growing and evolving. I think that was the intent, not to put out a perfect product, but something that was raw with room to grow.
