Re: What would you want in the 20th Anniv. package of BTCS?

Over 500 people voted in the poll I did several years ago about deluxe editions, nice to see that even in 2009 the #1 popular choice was CD+Blu-ray sets.

http://www.antsmarching.org/forum/sh...d.php?t=270359

Options were:

1) Blu-ray+CD Deluxe Edition reissues of each album featuring:

*Entire album remastered from the original master tapes presented in high resolution 24/96 5.1 multi-channel and 24/96 2.0 stereo PCM.
*Each album's videos presented in high definition with newly remastered audio in high resolution 24/96 5.1 multi-channel and 24/96 2.0 stereo PCM.
*Interviews from the relevant period in 1080p where elements allow, 480i otherwise
*Live performances from the relevant period in 1080p where elements allow, 480i otherwise
*B-sides and live cuts from the singles presented in high resolution 24/96 2.0 stereo PCM
*New interviews about the album, time period, songs, etc. in 1080p high definition
*CD "digital copy" of the newly remastered stereo tracks

2) DVD+CD Deluxe Edition reissues of each album featuring:

*Entire album remastered from the original master tapes presented in 24/48 5.1 Dolby Digital (lossy) and 24/48 2.0 stereo PCM.
*Each album's videos presented in 480i standard definition with newly remastered audio presented in 24/48 5.1 Dolby Digital (lossy) and 24/48 2.0 stereo PCM.
*Interviews from the relevant period in 480i
*Live performances from the relevant period in 480i standard definition
*B-sides and live cuts from the singles presented in 24/48 2.0 stereo PCM
*New interviews about the album, time period, songs, etc. in 480i standard definition
*CD "digital copy" of the newly remastered stereo tracks

3) 2CD Deluxe Edition reissues of each album featuring

*Entire album remastered from the original master tapes
*2nd CD including B-sides and live cuts from the singles

4) Deluxe 180g 2LP vinyl reissues featuring:

*Entire album remastered (and cut) from the original master tapes presented over 4 sides of virgin 180g vinyl

Give me these, maybe a few little trinkets (poster, cards, whatever), and I'd be happy to throw $200 the band's/MT's way

Like other have said, outtakes, a live album from 98 to go along with it. The Crash anniversary was really lazy.

I guess there's not that many of us who appreciate an analog cut album

crash was a complete (and actually GOOD) remastering of the album plus two contemporaneous shows.

are people seriously that addicted to stupid "box set" baubles that they will literally never look at again?

Any package without MacHead is gonna be a bit of a missed opportunity/let down to me.

The actual hearing of it will probably be a let down as well. It's legacy is so large, but I have to suspect it was left off of the final product for a reason, too.

personally I like box sets. I listen to the music that comes in them of course all the time, and every once in a while I look at the photo books, and go through everything else. it's a collectors thing for me too. I'm not saying it has to have bullshit in it that I will never touch. music, video, book. that's what most of mine contain. my Springsteen sets, which I just watched the dvd's of the other day, are great for that. I look at the Darkness on the Edge of Town lyric binder the most out of anything I have I think. plus you have to remember, and this goes for why I voted a box set, everything is in one package, and it caters to everyone. I'll gladly spend a portion of the set's cost on a vinyl to be in it that I'll never listen to, because other people want it in there, and it makes for a better package deal. that's just me though.

no you got that quote wrong. i was talking about having something for everyone in one item, rather than have 4 configurations of a release. i do mind paying for stuff I don't need, but if it's serving a purpose to get me the stuff I do want, I'm okay with it. you have to choose your battles. can't always be perfect.

are you really that much of an idiot, or do you just like to argue for no reason at all? here I'll say it again because you obviously need this

    Yes I like Box sets!
If they are only going to have 1 release, and not multiple formats, make sure it has everything in one so EVERYONE wins and enjoys it
In that scenario^^^^i don't mind paying $30 for a vinyl I'll never listen to, because the circumstances are different!

    was that easier to get?

then why do people have to be like that on here? why can't we just have normal conversations stating opinions, and not be kids and tear apart everything that is said piece by piece? do they really have that much time on their hands?

Yeah especially since that "expose" piece by Jake awhile back RE: his private listening session of it.

It exists. Its been verified. It better be part of the release.

Most importantly, Hi Res FLAC with dynamics intact.

I would also love to have:
    AAA vinyl
CD of outtakes, b-sides etc (MACHEAD!)
Blu-Ray with video footage/documentary type stuff (LOVED that 30 minute MTV thing back in the day for these sessions)

I don't mind that Crash didn't come in a box or with extra photos and momentos. They absolutely knocked that vinyl out of the park and happy for that. I enjoy box sets and extras for an anniversary release if it looks worthwhile. But I'll never complain about the absence of such if the vinyl is done well

Get In Line is a terrible song, but if it means we get other bonus stuff, I can manage. And make it sound as good as the Crash vinyl.

The possibilities, ranked worst to best:

    1) Straight reissue of the album on LP, done poorly
    2) Remaster of issue to LP with loads of extra, box set, outtakes, Machead, etc but done poorly
    3) Straight remaster of the album but done AAA analog sources and really well done
    4) Remaster done AAA analog source, really well done, loads of extras etc

I would be super psyched for 4, really excited for 3, kind of annoyed but happy for 2, and angry with 1

Blu-Ray with video footage/documentary type stuff (LOVED that 30 minute MTV thing back in the day for these sessions)
I agree with all of this minus the vinyl as I simply don't have the equipment. But I still think its cool!

The band and management have a HUGE opportunity here. Coming off an "off year", the band and the fans are getting older, it's been five years since they put an album out, fans are itching to hit up shows, they could really capitalize off a good, strong 20th anniversary edition of BTCS. I'm not just talking monetary gain, i mean reinvigorating a bored fan base.

I'm sure many would agree with me; BTCS is a perfect album that so nicely captures the band's creative genius during their prime and with the one producer that could get the most out of each member and make it all work. I could spend a day talking specifically how amazing this album is beginning to end but I think we all get it.

I don't want just a remastered CD or digital file. I want the scrapped songs, I want Machead, I want live releases from 1998, I want behind the scenes video and a "making of", I want interviews I want to see Lillywhite, I want a tour of the studio, I want to see Dave talking about the meaning of "Pig" to Carter. I'm perfectly willing to spend a couple hundred on something really nice for my favorite album of all time.

Management, please dont put out another miss. I'm sick of being underwhelmed by the releases and I honestly can't tell you the last time I bought something other than a show ticket from DMB. Do it right and watch your loyal fans come back.

I didn't even think about this. Good god, imagine if they re-released this and then treated this next tour like a BTCS album tour. They never would, but man that would kick so much ass.

Honestly, I don't care about quality for this release. I would just like unreleased material (demos, jams, finished songs cut from the record, etc). It'd be nice if they coupled a nice BTCS-era live show with it, but I'm hopeful that there will be a BTCS throw for purchase
