And here's the next wave of actors, all of whom had 3 entries on our lists:

Looking at the 2017 releases I expect to do well, I think Villeneuve will be the only director added to the list. I guess Nolan could also bolster himself with Dunkirk. I don't think Detroit will place high enough to give Bigelow another entry though.

As for actors, Gosling and Renner should join the "5 Timers Club", and the placement of The Last Jedi could really shake things up. I personally don't think it'll do all that well given how polarizing it is.

So, a movie/Twin Peaks has to get two votes to be counted, right?

Yea, and when your #1 isn't on the final list, you'll feel the pain I've felt all these years.

All you have to do is tell me, and I’ll make my list longer. Every year, I only do 10.

Now watch Twin Peaks you so and so. Best horror in decades.

Depending on how well Coco fairs, Lee Unkrich might get added in too. I have my doubts though. I just saw it, and while I thought it was good, I don't think it cracks my Top 10.

Totally forgot about him. In 8 years we've had 4 animated films crack our top 10, so I guess it's a coin flip as to whether he'll make it.

It's my #4 for the year, but as we all know, it's been a very down year.

I thought about breaking it down by screenwriters, but that doesn't have nearly the appeal of directors and actors.

To get some more discussion going in here, I thought we could treat the whole thing like a guessing game. We have 13 directors who have had multiple entries on our lists, and we also have 13 actors/actresses who have made at least 4 appearances in the 80 films we've awarded over that period.

The directors list is a lot easier to figure out so please avoid looking back at our past results to figure it out. You should easily be able to do so. As for acting, there are about 4 or 5 people I never would've expected to see included.

Guess away if you're so inclined.

this is so exactly a type of thing I would've done

Yes. December 27th limited release means it beat the cutoff by 4 days.

Two of those are in my top 10. The one that isn't is more likely to score a BP nod.

I knew you really liked Blade Runner and I'm assuming Logan Lucky is the othet top 10 movie and Dunkird is the one likely to br nominated. I just finished Blade Runner. I will need sime time for it to sink in before I can rank/rate it. Phenomeal job of Ridley recapturing the vibe and feel of the original but also updating it too if that makes any sense.

Haven't watched the ither two yet. Ended up not watching anything last night

Ridley did not direct 2049. Denis Villenevue helmed this one.

That's even more impressive then. I still don't know how I feel about the movie or how to rate/rank it.

Clay, will A Fantastic Woman be eligible for this year's list? I just looked at IMDb, and it said it did get a New York release in December 2017, but nothing about anywhere else. IMDb is not always 100% accurate, so I am thinking it probably got a 2017 L.A. release as well?
