Re: ***Labor Day Weekend at the Gorge 2021***

Canadians remain unable to travel to USA over land (ie by car) for non-essential purposes.
Sadly a DMB show is considered non-essential.
This may not change by the Labor Day weekend preventing many Canadians from making it to these shows.

Canada is opening its border to the US for non-essential travel on Aug 9. Now that we have made the first move I would expect the US to follow suit. I’m staying positive we will get there!!

The tricky thing might be that we may have to have a negative test done before we are allowed home and the border only excepts certain tests. Figuring out how to get them and if they cost anything (I’ve heard rumours that they are quite pricy) could be the hard part.

I just got back from my first visit to the family in a year or so, and crossing back was an... experience. Had to upload proof of vaccinations, proof of a negative PCR test, provide a quarantine address in case they rejected any of it, and then take another test at the border. After all that I STILL have to check-in every day for 14 days to confirm I don't have symptoms.

My current plan is to try to schedule a test in Moses Lakes or Wenatchee during the day on N2 so I can (hopefully) have the test results back by Monday and stay within the 72hr timeframe. I'm REALLY hoping the US side opens up so my DMB buddies can come along, otherwise I'm going solo with my US passport and trusting that the universe will provide some friendly concert buddies once I get to camp. The PCR test I got before coming back this time was $100, but I just see it as a cost of crossing the border during these historic times.

Fingers crossed the other side opens up soon!

Please post or send me a PM with any info you may dig up on where to get COVID test in Wenatchee or Moses Lake on N2. That’s my plan as well.

I know Moses Lake has a Walgreens. I’ve heard they do tests.

I was able to get a free test at a Walgreens in Moses Lake back in September when I crossed before, but their turnaround (at that point) was 5 days so I wouldn't count on that for crossing back assuming the 72 hour requirement is still in place. The PCR test I got last week was from a diagnostic testing centre in Boise with 24-48 hour turnaround (I got the results pretty close to 24 hours later), so finding a place that specializes in COVID (and other testing) might be the more reliable route. I haven't started researching it just yet, but I'll definitely keep you guys posted when I find out.

Just drive to Detroit, rent some jet skis, and cross the Detroit river into Windsor. No one will stop you.

I fish right on boarder waters up here and I have been flagged down numerous times to get back on our side. They keep a close eye on the lake at least.

I know I’m just joking. We always joke about getting over to Canada via the river. They let anyone in, anyways.

Hey all, i'm sure its been discussed before but, trying to transfer a camping ticket to someone on ticketmaster. Just wondering what you have done to accomplish this? Obviously its been "grayed out" on my site. Thank you to anyone who can give me some ideas!

FWIW, I needed a negative test to travel back in May, and went to a Walgreens to have it done. They warned me it would take up to 5 days for results, and I got them back in about 36 hours. Obviously you can't count on this at all (if they say 5 days, it could take 5 days) but at least in my experience, the results from Walgreens came quite a bit faster. Still pays to do your research though. Good luck!

Totally agree. Might be worth diversifying a bit with a Walgreens one and another one from a different provider just to up the odds of getting any results back in time. What a time to be alive!

The states is keeping the border closed until at least Aug 21. I for sure thought they would reciprocate and open on the 9th.

That's cutting it super close for planning purposes, assuming the US side actually opens after the 21st.

Soooo.... anyone camping in Gold that's willing to let a single lady-ant join their group for the weekend? I'm happy to share my kiddie-pool for post-show foot-soaking, delightful conversation, and White Claws in your choice of flavour...

I don't think they're bringing much if any WH crew on the road this summer for covid reasons.

no WH lawn tent, no WH premium merch tent, no WH pit early entry lottery people.

it is what it is, but yeah, seemingly no benefit other than the early entry still.
