News on DMB's new album?

I only want a new album if it's going to be good, and if the songs from last year are any indication, it won't be. So leave it on the shelf.

If they bust out some great new songs this tour, that will get me wanting a new album.

That is assuming all their new songs will be terrible. I don't remember an album that only had terrible songs on it. for all we know, the four songs from last year were songs that didn't make the album and they were just throwing them out there to see if they could make them into something.

No idea. I'll try to find out some information as soon as I can. Will probably be the Little Rock show before I hear anything, but I'll ask!

Welcome to Ants! But no. haha. I would definitely take good, older and repeated songs than new songs he writes for the sake of it. I wouldn't mind if they never brought out another album, as long as they kept touring

I am starting to think the 4 songs from last year were just B-sides at best. They weren't close to being finished. They just wanted to play a couple of tunes and pretend they were the New ones. Watch, we will get a sick album, they won't even be on it and probably never were supposed to be on it. Well, except maybe B&BB. That could be on the album.

So far, for #DMB25, there is no excitement. They are squandering this opportunity if they don't pull out the fireworks soon.

Why would they roll out unfinished B side songs that werent going to be on the album? That makes no sense.

The songs were absolutely finished or they wouldnt have been played. They had full lyrics and full music, they just werent any good.

This. B&BB was good, I hope that pops up a few times a tour. I like Death and hope to see a full version sometime, the other two I don't care about ever hearing again.

I'd be ok with them releasing EPs at this point, e.g. Little Red Bird (granted it was a bonus disc released in conjunction with a full album)-- but they could do some experimentation with releases including new material, B-sides (unreleased, studio material such as Sugar Will, etc.), and live tracks that haven't seen an album yet (VITR, DOTHS, B&BB, etc.)

Would love to hear the studio cuts of all the new 2015 songs except Be Yourself unless the lyrics were completely revamped. Music is nice and funky though. Really liked when Jeff got to solo a bit more in the outro.

DoTHS and ViTR are okay, but they belong on a Dave solo album.

I do like B&BB though. lyrics just make it a bit, awkward.

Makes no sense? Cornbread. What album did that end up on again? Pretty sure, the lyrics of that song changed before ending up on the B-Sides, yes B-sides album. Joy Ride, what album did it end up on again?

Absolutely finished? From Dave playing a piano solo, to adding in members throughout a tour doesn't seem finished to me.

Playing FOUR new songs after known album sessions leads you to believe they were gonna be on said album.

Again FOUR songs. Maybe one of them ended up on a bside after Dave saw the lack of reaction they received. But to assume they came out and played those song knowing they were bsides makes no sense.

Who does it have to make sense to? Your saying it is impossible that the band has some songs that they don't intend on putting on an album? Wanting to play some new stuff, but not wanting to play songs that they are holding back for an album?

The last few albums have had brand new songs with the exception of Sweet. To me, it makes more sense that they won't play songs that will be on this album live before the album comes out. Not the other way around. When is the last time you heard 4 new songs live prior to them being on an album?

Yes, with a release date of the new album. We don't have a release date for a new album. Hence, no album when 4 songs were played in 2015.

I really like the idea that ViTR, DoTHS, BY, and B&BB were songs that they recorded but didn't make the cut, so they just kind of threw them out last summer to see how they played. Do I believe this is the case? Absolutely not, but I do like the idea!

I also agree that ViTR and DoTHS sound more like a Dave solo album (both kind of make me think of An' Another Thing and Too High)... How do we know for sure that there hasn't been any work done on a second solo album? Doesn't he have one more on his contract?

Anyways, I would love to see a new album drop. I don't think it would necessarily change the set lists that much (yes, I know what happened for 3 years after BW was released). They are really pushing this "25th anniversary" thing, which leads me to believe their sets will be reflective of what they are celebrating.
