BW isn't terrible. I think it's aged well. Unfortunately though they haven't aged well live. I'll pass on Time Bomb. Especially Time Bomb>>(Time Bomb intro) Two Step.

I feel like the band hasn't completely worked this one out live. It could be a great live staple if they decided to put it back into heavy rotation and flesh it out (I have the same feelings about "Hello Again").

"Time Bomb" is definitely a song that was a bit overhyped back in 2009 and then the band exhausted the song and the entire Big Whiskey album back in 2009-2011 to the point where we were sick of it all.

But, it deserves to be brought back to life in a live setting. Thoughts?

Here is the problem with BW:
The songs on that album was played way too much for way too long. Even during the 2012 tour before AFTW, there were still shows where BW was getting 4-6 songs a show. The fact that SMLAM, Seven, Funny, Why I Am, Spaceman, and You and Me have been in heavy heavy heavy rotation for almost a decade now puts a very sour taste in many people's mouth, because none of those songs are considered +1's at a show anymore (for me they are all -1's at this point). AFTW is a boring studio album from top to bottom, but at least I would mark out if I heard Broken Things or Drunken Solider at a show because it's a breath of fresh air

the one thing I will say about BW is...... damn those were some fun times with this band.

Roi had just died and the end of 2008 felt like weird times. The last album was 4 years earlier and It was really nice to finally get some new stuff. I feel like Funny leaked or something in like February of 09 or march of 09 and I really liked that song back then. The spring tour was great and by the summer the band was getting a lot of publicity. They were promoting the shit out of the album. I remember watching that beacon show on TV. fun times indeed

amount of play has absolutely nothing at all to do with the quality of a song or an album. I know that you know that, but I get so tired of that angle being used in the discussion as to the merits of BW.

I'm still puzzled as to how Stolen Away was received so well when it was in frequent full-band acoustic rotation a few years ago. That song makes Time Bomb seem like a masterpiece.

You're thinking way too much into it. The problem with BW is that it's not good.

This is about where I am.

I like other songs on the album, but these three are the only ones Im fine with. Maybe throw Gator Pie in too just because its different and wasnt beaten to death.


Squirm is a great song and is probably my favorite from the album, but even that Ive seen so many times ive kinda grown tired of it.

Make that 3 of us. I like Time Bomb, and I like it better when its not a Two Step intro. It was getting a little stale, but the first Time Bomb I heard live I was very happy.

2nd the You and Me enjoyment too, its a good little song.
