    No.
Maybe the lower end models. I own the DMSM 914-ce and have yet to find an ax that sounds better, feels better in the hands, or is as pretty as that guitar with the Grux/Cindy inlays

I finally played one the other day. I loved it

But formy tastes cedar goes better with rosewood so the 714 is my favorite. I own one.

I also think late 90s 914s are the best guitars taylors have ever made. Pre CV bracing

Awesome. I am getting a OM style body (although they refer to it as a OOO). The SJ sounds amazing, but I already have a really nice custom Larivee that same size, and it kills my back (I hav a few fractured vertebrae). Tobacco sunburst finish, LR Baggs iMix pickup, cocobolo sides and back, and red spruce top.

What are the specs on yours?

It's interesting people say that the rockbridge is a better guitar than Taylor. Rockbridge makes very few guitars and the only contact these people have had with them is more than likely at a show where Nick is right, quite twangy. It's not like you can walk into guitar center and play one like you can most Taylors. Maybe if I played one my opinion would change but they sound very metallic and break quite a few strings.

Dave's SJ is cocobolo back and sides. It's disappointing that to my ears it doesn't sound that great

Dave's SJ is Brazilian Rosewood, not Cocobolo.

Maybe it was the guitar he uses for drop D then.

Dave with a braz rosewood? Must be nice. The option for that on their site is 4000 dollars plus the normal 3900 starting fee.

That sounds amazing. Have you ever tried the LR Baggs iMix pickup? I have played on both that and the Fishman Matrix Infinity and I must say, the LR Baggs (when used in stereo mode) sounds better. See if you can track one down to try it out.

I have not. I actually haven't heard of LE Baggs, so thank you for mentioning it. I'll see what I can find. What was the price difference?

Thinking of stringing my old Alvarez dreadnought for high B now that I have my Taylor 314ce for everything else. Learned most of the tunes that you can comfortably play with capo at the 7th fret but I would love to be able to play YNK correctly. Soo fun.

314s are the most underrated guitars out there.

Those bitching about the broken strings......string tension is string tension. Not gonna change from guitar to guitar. If it is the guitar, which I doubt, it could be because the tops havent loosened up fully. Doubtful though as they are played so much.

More likely it has to do with the strings, either manufacturing or they changed the actual strings used.

As far as saying the Rockbridge is too twangy........what does the HD-28 in D&T shows sound like to your ears?

I love the sound of the HD-28 and listen to Appalachian State all the time, I also play a Martin guitar so that's just what I like. The Rockbridge sounds pretty bad to me on the Live in Atlantic City release, especially on Watchtower but I'm glad I can hear it through the mix at least. As much as I don't like the Atlantic City release in terms of Dave's guitar sound I did like the sound at shows last summer and at the Life is Good festival so who knows.
