I saw this when it was originally released in 2006, but I randomly came across it on Netflix and decided to rewatch it. I think I probably enjoyed it a little more now that I'm older and I have more US history context than I did when I originally saw it when I was 23. The movie has a great cast, which I had forgotten about besides Matt Damon: William Hurt, Angelina Jolie, Billy Crudup, Michael Gambon, Alec Baldwin, Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci, Lee Pace, and Eddie Redmayne. What also surprised me is when the credits hit I found out Robert De Niro directed it. I had absolutely no idea and I would have never guessed it since he's not known for directing. Seems this was the last movie he directed. Also has Eric Roth as the writer. The story gets a little convoluted in some parts, but I was able to keep up with most of it. Anyway, I really enjoyed revisiting this one.
If i remember this right, i think it was a big deal that Joe Pesci was in this movie as many thought he was retired from movies. I think Joe said he did this solely because his friend DeNiro was directing.

That would make sense. His role was extremely small. Just one small scene, but it was surprising to see him in it. I'm not even sure the scene was necessary to the plot of the movie. It felt out of place because he was playing an Italian immigrant and the entire movie had focused on the Russians and the British.

Ghostbusters Frozen Empire was bad. It wasn't fun like the 1st remake.

I thought about leaving halfway through because I was hangry.

The problem is that these awful remakes, reboots, and sequels won’t ever stop being made because morons are thirsty for nostalgia regardless of how bad they think it’ll be.

My 12 year old niece is staying with us. We debated out at dinner what movie to watch and settled on Jurassic Park. Got home, put it on, and she was like, “Is this the old one?”

She’ll be sleeping in the yard tonight.

That reminds me that there's been a recent social media discussion about how young people don't know or care about movies from the 90's that was sparked by The Matrix turning 25 this year. The discussion was centered around how The Matrix was a transformational movie experience for people who were old enough to see it when it was released and whether it would or should still resonate with young people today the first time they see it. It's an interesting discussion about if objectively good movies age well and to what degree young generations should care about them.

I don't get this with the younger generation, good movies are good movies, i wanted to watch all of them from a young age. I was born in 1981 and i just watched two movies from the 70's this week (Duel and Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore). A big thing for me when i was in high school was AFI making that 100 best of list, i tried watching all of those movies by renting 1/2 of them from my local library or taping them off of TCM.

Jurassic Park and The Matrix are two films that completely changed the industry after they came out. Then they spawned endless shitty sequels.
