Seriously fantastic. I got Captain in the acoustic set at WPB '15, which was another huge surprise and one of my favorite songs. Too bad Dave botched the ending, but they bounced back and Rashawn's solo that they added is awesome. I love the Alpine '15 version.

This is a highlight I thought of also. To each his own, but I thought this was a very pleasant back-to-back surprise. I still chuckle thinking about my reaction.

    1. Having a friend give me his ticket for the pit in the middle of Grey Street for SPAC '08 N2 and getting to stay there for the rest of the night ..

    http://www.dmbalmanac.com/TourShowSe...=98&where=2008.

The following song was The Dreaming Tree that ended up being released, I'll never forget making eye contact with Dave in between his wailing at the end. Going from the back of the pavilion to having nobody in front of me in the middle of that song run was nuts.

    2. #34 in Mansfield '05, at the time it was the longest running return of a song all time

    3. Halloween at SPAC '09

Honorable mentions: LL return to Mansfield, True Reflections after the Boston Marathon bombing, Tim covering In Your Eyes last year at SPAC

I guess for me it's two unexpected moments....

The "double encore" from Charlottesville 2010.

and then the run of Drunken Soldier - Two Step - Ants - Halloween to close the set in Charlotte in about 2013. Forgot what year it was. It was followed with a dud Monkey encore but the closing run was definitely unexpected.

This one. Steady was our first dance at our wedding and my wife and I never thought we'd see it live together. We absolutely lost in when Rashawn played the first few notes. It was so amazing.

Still might be my favorite show Ive seen. That was only my 6th show I think and so many huge firsts. And it was the first time I was in lowers.

    That run was epic though.

I wasn’t in the pit but most people around me had the same experience. I just remember they cut back into the song and I was just lost in it. After it ended I turned to the guy to my right, who I didn’t know, he had the most puzzled yet pleasant look on his face. All I could say was “wow...”. Guy to my right couldn’t even mutter words. He just had that silly look on his face for the next 10 minutes or so

The Dreaming Tree bustout at Deer Creek N2 in 2006. Got a pretty good #40 and then right into Dreaming Tree.

Also, Dave kicking off Deer Creek 2015 with Let You Down after flubbing AWSOP.

Loving wings opener at Dallas in 2012. This was my first show in like 8 years at the time, and it was one of the most unexpected openers I ever seen. Great performance of the song too.

Hearing minarets at oak mountain in 2014. It was one of those songs that I thought I would never hear. I think I have seen it 3 times since, and it's awesome every time.

Also YNK in Charlotte 2014 was a suprise.

I always wanted a seek up opener and I finally got one in 2016, the only time it opened all tour.

Then I got break free in 2016 as well. Never thought I would see that song live

Oh yeah how could I forget.

Kill the King from AC Caravan.

Literally took 2/3 of the way through the song for me to fully process they were actually playing it. I could not believe it.

Break Free as well to a lesser degree but KTK was an insane bust out.

It blows my mind how they have not played it since. It works well for dmb 3.0

Also the captain comeback at one of the caravan shows (can't remember the exact show) was a pretty bust bust out. I wasn't there but I bet it was pretty crazy

It actually really does work well for this lineup.

It was AC as well, N1. That was the first time I heard it.

Yeah that was my first Dreaming Tree. Pretty awesome.

Dave teasing #40 on night 1 stopping, getting booed and saying tomorrow sounds like a good day is one of my favorite DMB moments.

If they do somehow go on without violin KTK is a song that should be put in rotation. Listening to it again now and Im amazed at how close it sounded to the 06 versions.

Captain is works really well in 3.0 too and that's kinda surprising. But it's another one that should be in heavy rotation if this band doesn't have a violin this summer. It's got some minor voilin parts but not too much

I'll say the one of biggest moment I missed out on. I was supposed to go to the orange beach show in 2013 and had a tickets but wasn't able to make it.

Then they bust out crazy easy after a 9 year absence.

Probably my favorite show I attended, but Spoon from Alpine 2008.

I didn't look at what they did at soundcheck, so I was really shocked when they busted it out.

Hadn't been played since 2003. Fun night, can't believe that was 10 years ago.

One more for the "Unexpected doesn't mean best/favorite" list.
N3 Gorge 2010. N1 and N2 were awesome shows, really good sets, Ben Harper playing lap guitar on watchtower...
N3 opens with Minarets, Bartender, I Did It?!? Everyone around my wife and are were looking at each other going "are they really playing this?", "how long has it been?", "yay, liberation?". My wife is a moderately above casual fan and looks at me and says "this isnt on of their better songs", and I told her I agree but I thinks its almost awesome that they are playing it. They had to do something to pull off a 3 nighter with no repeats for the first time, and I Did It was the price.

Also only 1 of 2 Shotguns that year. But that show started as a clusterfuck. 10 minutes before the venue was to open the doors, they made all of us in line evacuate the property for a thunderstorm that never hit. Missed John Butler opening when we lost our place in line taking shelter/waiting on the all clear.

    Blossom 2012

Everybody Wake Up gets busted out for the first time since 2005. A song I never thought I would ever see. It was a weird moment at the show. People around me were so confused and it took me a good minute or so to realize what song was being played.

Definitely getting #41 and Two Step>Ants Marching>Halloween at my first show which also included Kit Kat Jam, LBV and a JTR tease. Man 2013 was a ride

It is hard to beat Let You Down at Deer Creek in 2015.

Getting the first Pig closer (plus it was a TD) since 6/17/03 in Bonner Springs, KS '15 was also a pleasant shock.

The back to back Halloween set closers at Alpine in 2013.

I was at this show in '08 when LeRoi was still in the hospital and Jeff had a prior commitment. Once it started and I realized we weren't getting any sax at all, it was a pretty interesting spin on the night. Only time since October of '94 I guess. And the show you mentioned in '03.

EDIT: Also the famed Halloween show. Slipped my mind. That Water into Wine was great too!
