that finale was awful. I'm probably in the minority here, I was starting to like Juliette's character, but it was lazy writing. I can't believe how bad that finale was. I'll continue next season because I'm invested and really enjoyed Helen's storylines this season, but literally the only good things about S3 were Helen and Gunther

This will end one of two ways:

The original four all end up back together or Helen wakes up, sees Noah in the shower, and realizes it's all been one big dream.

I have the finale on right now and I'm legitimately so uninterested that I don't know if I can bear to finish. What a miserable season this has been.

    New season starts June 17th.

Not sure if I have the desire to go back and watch the last season. I didn't care for it all that much.

I just remember Noah having issues with the prison guard and him having to rescue his daughter from some creep.

I love how much of an asshole Noah comes off as in Helen's POV. lol.

Wonder if Bruce and his wife are still in that timeout chamber. "Bruce Butthole" -- hope Noah says that once this season.

If I'm not mistaken the season starts with Noah being stabbed in the shoulder/neck. Lumberjack dude marries that Latino chick but really still loves Allison. Noah starts banging some French professor or something. Helen starts dating some doctor that she doesn't really love but ends up moving in with him because she can't be alone. Turns out Noah stabbed himself.

Thats' one of the things I liked best about S4E1. The portions of the two persepctives that overlap are almost completely different. But, they're done so well that it irks you because both versions cannot be true. It's really brilliant, IMO or I'm giving it way too much creift. For example, who used the bathroom? In both perspectives, one person did (not neither, not both).

Exactly. Also, who was present when Helen and Noah first saw each other outside of cirriculum night" Completely different.

It's kind of cool the way they peal back those layers as the season goes on (or have in the past). I feel like we're already seeing who reacted how in regards to the news from cirriculum night.

Yeah, I don't know. Feels sort of like the S4 finale of Dexter to me, in the sense that it's a majorly surprising moment done simply for the shock of it all with little consideration given to how it will affect the storyline moving forward. I guess the good news is that they've already announced that next season will be the last so at least we know they won't be wandering aimlessly for 4 more seasons.

I disagree. As you mentioned, they only have one season left. I'd venture to guess they know where the story is going. And, this is good for the show, imo. Given she's the one with the history there, it leaves a lot of possibilities open as to who the killer is. Now, if there's no killer at the end, I will be like "fuck this show."

The reason I feel otherwise is because Ruth Wilson was recently critical of the pay disparity between herself and Dominic West. In fact, the only articles I've seen reference the show since Sunday's episode are all pointing out how curious her departure is in light of those comments. However, the showrunners are maintaining that she requested to be released.

Either way, the bad taste left in my mouth by S3 also makes me question whether they actually have a viable endgame in mind. And love her or hate her, she was the heart of the show. It is called "The Affair" for a reason. She and her actions tied everyone together.

That being said, I actually hope the opposite about her ultimate demise. Suicide makes the most sense to me.

    Re: The Affair

I wasn't aware of any pay issues, so had no idea that she even wanted off the show. I agree that S3 was bad and left a bad taste in people's mouths. As K pointed out, it seems like they're completely moving on from that disaster and doing a slight reboot into S4-S5. As for Allison being killed of committing suicide, it would just seem so pointless to have this end and find out she committed suicide. She pushed that guy into the street that Helen hit and that's how he got killed, so her getting killed at the end seems to fit. Also, there are so many options out there for a potential killer that suicide just wouldn't be a good ending, imo.

But, now that I'm thinking abou it, everyone's lives are fucked up and there's no indication that lives are returning anywhere near normal, so maybe that's just the show.

Wait there’s going to be another season? I thought this was the last one. That kind of makes me mad. This season has been an outstanding rebound and it’s back as one of my favorite shows to watch.

Joshua Jackson was just phenomenal this week. What a stunner of an episode. It doesn’t feel cheap to me for them to do what they did with Alison’s character. Allison’s life has always been tragic, and unfortunately what happened to her is a reality for a lot of people.

Now if it wasn’t actually a suicide, that would be dumb. Seems pretty clear to me it is.

We're in the same boat thinking this was going to be the last season. Not sure where I picked up the notion it was the last season but it also kind of made me mad it wasn't.

Disagree about whether it should be a suicide or not. I think it shouldn't but if I'm wring, no worries. I'll just take a really great final season.
