The reason I feel otherwise is because Ruth Wilson was recently critical of the pay disparity between herself and Dominic West. In fact, the only articles I've seen reference the show since Sunday's episode are all pointing out how curious her departure is in light of those comments. However, the showrunners are maintaining that she requested to be released.
Either way, the bad taste left in my mouth by S3 also makes me question whether they actually have a viable endgame in mind. And love her or hate her, she was the heart of the show. It is called "The Affair" for a reason. She and her actions tied everyone together.
That being said, I actually hope the opposite about her ultimate demise. Suicide makes the most sense to me.
