I can't remember his username, but there was this old school poster who would always be active in any sort of religious or philosophy thread that I would talk to all the time (as I was a still a philosophy student at Texas at the time). He had some sort of gnarly disease like CF or MS that severely restricted his movement to the point that he used voice to text type stuff to post here. Had a USC avatar.

I sometimes wonder if he's still alive. I hope so.

I'm an alcoholic, have been since I started drinking at age 21. Tried quitting over and over again but never wanted to take on the label of alcoholic which is honestly a barrier to staying sober. Finally one day eight months ago I was at my wits end and just couldn't fucking drink anymore but couldn't fucking stop at the same time so I checked into rehab for a couple months. That day was like a light switch flipped on in my head and my life has been ten million times better ever since. Looking back I can't believe how much of my life I wasted just sucking on poison and nursing hangovers.

Sorry I know this thread isn't about addiction anymore but it is therapeutic to get it off my chest!

Been there. I was a bottle and a 12 pack a day for a long time. Would go to the bar during my lunch hour, when I got off work, and then would drink until I passed out (around 7) wake up around 11 and go back to the bar until 2a. Every god damn day.
