Warehouse intro from Piedmont Park

I am the one who lies, the evil one
I am the one your mother warns you about
I am the sweet serpents' father (curled up in his ditch in the ground?)
And hopes that one day he may grow an only son
I am the one who means (the more?) to rule the world
I am the only one the devil ever told all
I am the one that fell from there down to the ground
And with his broken wings ruled the world all around
Oh yeah...
Feeling dead of you
I'm going inside the (war?)
I'm leaving
Move my soul away
Hoping that I will find my home again.

I transcribed the intro as best I could.

Very Dark lyrics in this one, obviously relating the speaker to Satan shortly after the Fall. It reminds me a lot of John Milton's "Paradise Lost."

Could Warehouse be about Satan looking towards and fearing his (according to Christian Tradition) final defeat? Not everything in the song fits, but a lot of it does.

Discuss.

thats a very chilling intro. I have always felt that if dave was to go back and look at some his better intros to songs that he could make several new songs from them.

Anything can be about anything if you read enough into it and want it to be about that.

Anyway, that interpretation doesn't do it for me.

This was quite possibly the most amazing Intro to anything I've ever heard. I get chills listening to it. IMO, it is one of the darkest, most evil things that has ever come from Dave's mouth not named Halloween. I would love to have this developed into a song. Take the guitar riff, I don't care. It sounds sweet as hell and fits perfectly.

Well Dave did supposedly hit a creative explosion. A Dream So Real was inserted into a Two Step intro early in the tour. The Two Step intro at Hollywood Bowl N2 also sounded like it could be a song.

This is how I translated the lyrics from the intro... (with help from the OP) and some minor corrections I thought I heard... Any help would be great to fill in the rest... The bolded text is parts I'm not sure about.

I am the one who writes the hate above,
I am the one your mother warns you about
I am the son that every proud father looks down upon
In hopes that one day he may grow an only son
I am the one who means + (something else) to rule the world
I am the only one the devil ever told it all
I am the one that fell from there down to the ground
And with his broken wings ruled the world all around
    Oh yeah...
    I’m feeling dead of you
I'm going down inside the (war? hole?)
    I'm leaving
    Oh, moving my soul away
Hoping that I will find my home again.

Could someone also re-up the Bartender from 12.16.2006 with the similar intro. The file expired in the other relating thread.

It's moments like these that give me hope that one day soon DMB will churn out a chilling new dark song. And for those who may think "well they are just doing an old intro," well, they really aren't. Only the guitar is similar and what Boyd does with the violin is simply haunting.

I feel like they are one or two steps away from possibly recording a new minarets or last stop, especially after listening to this Bartender intro from the XMass jam. Sound extremely similar to something they wanted to extend on, which came the intro to warehouse this year. Hopefully soon it could evolve further.

I just kinda wish they wouldn't do the stop time intro anymore. Just go straight into the song. Now that would be awesome as well.

Musically, I think the Irvine 9.26.07 Warehouse Intro is the best of the summer.
They really took their time and built it to a nice peak.
I'll have to give the lyrics a close listen cuz I agree, the Piedmont lyrics are fantastic!

    Here's the Irvine Warehouse...

Is everyone now going to start putting "Piedmont Warehouse Intro" on their hypothetical tracklists for the next album? God, I hope not.

I agree with Lewis, and don't buy this Satan interpretation for a second.

its obviously a lucifer reference u idiot

and any person who is not a moron would know that this is just another variation of an intro he's done since at least 1995 and possibly before...it should definately NOT be its own thing...its the perfect way to kick off warehouse.

Speaking of Piedmont, what was that little interpolation Dave did during Two Step? I don't know the name of the song, but it's really familiar. He sings it and then Carter laughs and points at him with his stick.

I'm pretty sure it's a little interpolation because I swear I've heard that before.
