Friends the tv show

Simple yes or no. Had a very deep debate, and it was way more disputed than I thought.

I have gotten the sense over the last few years that it's become a cool sort of hipster thing to do to rag on and make fun of this show, and it's gay to actually like it, it was lame and horrible, etc etc. I have no problem saying it'll likely go down as one of my top 10 favorite shows of all time, I related to Chandler a great deal.

it had its moments. Started out a pretty good sitcom for a number of years, but stuck around far too long for its own good. Chanlder was and will always be a big influence on my life.

Not sure how it could possibly not be funny. You would have to have a horrible sense of humor to find it not funny at all.

It's great. So, it's dated, somewhat cheese at times, but the characters were great and it definitely set the stage for a ton of sitcoms that are around today (looking at you, How I Met Your Mother).

Not going to vote cause it had funny moments, but also could be corny/boring. Over all I didnt think it was anything special.

Seasons 2-5 amount to one of my favorite comedies ever. After that, it was still good for some laughs, but they all became caricatures of themselves. Joey went from just a not bright guy to being a complete idiot , Monica went from neurotic to completely OCD, Ross became a weirdo, etc.

This happens to lots of comedies I think. I realized how they did that with Boy Meets World (look at Eric in the college years) and even what Family Guy did with Stewie

It's one of the classics...I love it even though there are some cheeeeeesy moments...im watching it right now actually. The one where Ross goes spray tanning haha

my only complaint is that in some of the newer seasons some of the characters are just too much

Agreed, and this is an extremely common thing for comedies. It's almost hard for it not to happen the longer the show goes on.

Have never laughed at a Friends episode or clip. Complete fodder, IMO.

Does not even deserve mention in the same sentence as Seinfeld.

That's a matter of option. Do I think Seinfeld is "better"? Yes. But I'd prefer to watch friends.

This is exactly what happened to the Office, except for Steve Carrell, and now he's gone.

I get that it's possible. But it's not a sentiment you hear often. I'm not sure what superlatives people use better than brilliant to describe the quality of Seinfeld that overrates it.

exactly. example: classical music or jazz vs. some modern popular music

many can acknowledge the former's merits, but it's "not their thing"
