They’ve speculated it for a while, even though everyone at WWE has said it’s bullshit and the only “sources” have been Dave Meltzer who’s primary WWE source the last couple years has been his ass.

HHH got waaaayyyyy too into little guys. It’s incredible how much I’m enjoying NXT 2.0, even with almost all of those indie guys gone. I love Smackdown, Raw is whatever because a 3 hour weekly show always will be, and every WWE PPV is really good to great. Why they would change anything, I don’t know.

I’m also curious if AEW hit their ceiling, at least for a while. Their weekly numbers have gone down considerably week by week, with the exception of the go home show for Full Gear…which still couldn’t top 1 mil. They’re starting to feel like “more successful TNA” which isn’t the worst thing in the world, but everyone saying they’re a threat or WWE should follow in their footsteps baffle me. WWE tried making their show, and it had a limiter that barely ever went over 1 mil viewers (the last days of the previous incarnation of NXT). Those remaining people migrated to AEW and they haven’t grown since - in fact, they’re doing slightly worse despite signing every big name they could.

I’m not a big Page guy, but at least they got the title off of Omega. That’s a step in the right direction.

With regards to AEW ratings being down, I would say they are probably at their ceiling until the move to TBS in January. Obviously they were never going to have high ratings on a Saturday night show when they got moved because of the NHL, and ever since they’ve been back on Wednesdays, they’ve been airing live coast-to-coast, so with them being on at 6 Mountain Time and at 5 on the West Coast, of course viewership is going to be down. Some people may call that an excuse, but I know for me personally that there’s no way I could to watch a show live that aired at 5 PM between work and dinner, etc.

That being said, anyone who thinks that AEW is on the same level as WWE is kidding themselves. I’d love for them to be there one day, but they’ve got a lot of ground to cover. WWE’s financial success right now is unprecedented. As long as AEW is putting on good shows and drawing good crowds, I couldn’t care less about WWE. The only thing that I think you can say about AEW with respect to WWE is that their 18-49 ratings are within the ballpark of WWE (even a perfect storm allowing them to beat Raw a time or two, and also beating Smackdown head-to-head when they went against each other during MLB playoffs) and that will almost certainly get them a major bump in TV money when their deal with Turner is up for renewal, which will hopefully cement them as a second option for wrestling fans for the foreseeable future.

I also know there aren’t many AEW fans in this forum compared to WWE, so this probably won’t matter to a lot of people here. Just offering up my two cents.

I've long stopped caring who has the better product. It's about what you like at the end of the day. WWE entertains the hell out of me a lot more than AEW, and that isnt a knock on AEW.

I agree with Bo. Smackdown is the best show, and Raw is what it is. The PPVs have all been really good, which probably matters the most. I haven't given too much of a watch to the new NXT yet, probably for similar reasons to AEW, but I'm glad it's been getting positive reviews from people.

AEW has reignited my love for wrestling. I haven’t missed a show since the first Dynamite. NXT was the only WWE I really enjoyed and once they moved to USA it started to decline to me at least. This whole NXT 2.0 killed it for me, after watching the first episode and I haven’t looked back. I think people look into the ratings a little too much. Comparing AEW to Raw or Smackdown is dumb imo when they are different nights anyways. AEW is doing fine for a 3 year old wrestling company.

i went to rampage and full gear here in minneapolis. i don't think i've watched a full episode of any aew show in the two years or whatever since it has been around, though i did watch the last ppv to see cm punk's return, and have pretty much only read r/squaredcircle/prowrestling.net recaps and video clips to keep up with aew. so i didn't go to these shows as an established aew fan, just as a wrestling fan wanting to see what the new kid in town was like in person and to see cm punk and bryan danielson again. and it was fun! great f'n wrestling! great experience! would do again without question! but it's still very much a wrestling fan's promotion and has yet to find the wrestler(s) or presentation that will carry it to a broader audience and keep it there. i hope it does, though, because i can barely stomach what wwe is doing these days. at heart i am a wwe guy, but these last few years especially have been rough, and these days i don't even watch their shows, either, i just follow recaps and watch an occasional ppv (an aside: the wwe network move to peacock has made me watch even less wwe content than i already was). we've got a wwe raw coming to town here in a couple weeks and i'm barely excited to go to that. and the rebranding of nxt into nxt 2.0 basically sent me the message that they aren't changing anything any time soon. i feel like a wrestling fan stuck in kind of a no-man's land where nothing is truly keeping my attention, and i don't think i am alone there.

He's needed to play the heel in this next feud, and he can somehow craft a line about Mania XXX (with easily the best babyface moment in recent history, and one of the best of all time) that gets him boo'ed. No matter what role he plays, or what story he is telling, everything just looks so natural for him.

Good on Seth, a multibillion dollar publicly traded company doesnt need video of one of its top stars on its flagship show being violent with an intoxicated and/or mentally ill person. Also, I really dont like the way NXT2.0 is going. NXT had been my favorite "brand" over the past 4-5 years. But "Attitude Era-light" isn't a great look these days. And I say that as an avowed Attitude Era fan, it was an incredible ride at the time. But today? I'd like something that isnt rape jokes and boobs, we've progressed from that I hope. Still some great talents in NXT, but the story content is getting increasingly cringy. More and more, I find myself drawn to AEW when I want to watch professional wrestling.

Punk has no heat, and sucks as a babyface if he isn’t rallying against “The System”. The only problem is, AEW set themselves in the ECW model and Punk can’t play the 96 Van Dam role. So he’s fucking stuck as a stale shitty babyface. And Bryan looks very much like a guy who kinda regrets doing this. They truly squandered Punk completely, and Bryan mostly. Adam Cole is beyond an afterthought now. Page is a failure. Cody is the least over thing in the company no matter how many flaming tables he goes through. Moxley has personal issues. Kenny was the big start of the company’s cratering, and now he’s not even healthy. Jericho fucking blows. I’m at a loss for where they go next. The only major free agents out there aren’t going to give a bump. TNT already gave up on Dynamite and the new regime at Turner may want to move on. I’m curious to see what happens after that. Tiny will take it somewhere else - he’s a money mark with nearly limitless daddy money. But yeah.
