Re: What kinda car are you driving?
Let's talk about how crazy the car market is & how buying a vehicle from out of state can be a challenge.
Situation: Bought a vehicle just before pandemic (Dec 19). In March of 2021, vehicle was declared a total loss due to a tornado. Very low miles (less than 15k)....insurance company paid me MORE than what I actually paid for the vehicle. Many vehicles are on 2-6 month back orders, with many dealerships adding 10% / 10k + all of the stupid dealer ad ons; needed a vehicle asap, and there were less than 10 used ones available that fit color, year and trim level. One of the online vehicle sites had one, at a great price, so bought the vehicle online. Vehicle was in Florida (I'm in Texas), and was shipped to us 2-3 weeks later. Slightly used (about 10k miles), and the purchase price - while still a great comparative deal - was above what a new one would cost (dealer also threw in a bunch of add ons that I didn't want or need, but I had to take them or I wouldn't get the vehicle). So here's the thing - I've had the vehicle for 2 months - and I still have temporary tags (I do a monthly temp registration) and no sign when I am getting them. And for shits and giggles, I went to the same online site that I bought the car from 2 months ago - and they offered me 8k more than their selling price, and 3k more than my drive off price (including taxes, transport and dealer ad ons).
