***Official Beale Street Music Festival 2019 Thread***

So I think at this point, it's pretty much common knowledge that DMB will be playing this festival (based on emails, hints, etc., that were sent out and posted on social media). The full lineup and schedule is supposed to be announced on February 13.

Right now, based on social media posts, these seem to be the confirmed artists (pulled from the Beale Street inforoo thread):

dirty heads
dave matthews band
lukas nelson
moneybagg yo
cardi b
rainbow kitten surprise
shinedown
lord huron
chvrches
6lack
in this moment
lil dicky
the killers
g.c.j.
good charlotte
blocboy jb
LINDSEY BUCKINGHAM*
charlie wilson
g-eazy
flogging molly
saving abel
india.arie
trippie redd
OneRepublic
Rodrigo y Gabriela

https://www.memphisinmay.org/events/...usic-festival/

*Likely pulling out due to medical reasons.

Will be able to catch DMB if they're playing May 3, but not May 5. Fingers crossed!

I believe there was a rumor that Cardi B was headlining Sunday, and with dmb playing Jazz Fest saturday the 4th you should be good.

Nice to see Moon Taxi on the list. I was originally going to swing this show but with Sea Hear Now being much closer to me, I opted to go that route instead.

May 5th is stacked with the Killers, Gary Clark Jr, Lord Huron, St. Paul and the Broken Bones and RODRIGO Y GABRIELA. Great day to go if you can only swing one day.

Got sent an email today from a buddy who does work for them. That list looks exactly like what he sent me. I can’t figure out how to load a pic of it on here

Been going to this festival almost every year since 2007. It's super affordable for the acts that they bring in. It'll also be really nice to not have any sort of lengthy commute and sleep in my own bed post-show (something I've never had before).

That said, this will be a festival set no doubt and I doubt it'll be a full set. They'll probably get to play max 2 hours. The crowd will be a lot of insanely inebriated frat stars. Band's slot probably won't be until 10-10:30.

So I'm grateful to see them at a festival I've been hitting for years and sleep in my own bed but at the same time, I'm not pumped about the likelihood of the expected crowd. And the undercard for that day is pretty underwhelming.

Not to mention the rest of the Friday lineup isn’t much to write home about. Might feel like a long day leading up to DMB finally taking the stage.

Good news is Friday gates aren't typically until 5 or 5:30pm. Really interested to see who "opens" up for them based on the Friday lineup.

Yeah I'm probably just gonna stage hop until whoever opens for them, which if I had to guess would be CHVRCHES. And that's okay with me since I wouldn't mind seeing them.

I'm taking a half day off work and driving over from Nashville. Should be a good time!

West Memphis AR looks to have the cheaper hotels (just off I-40) than those nearer to Tom Lee Park. Is West Memphis OK if you just want a bed to sleep in?

I would not recommend staying in West Memphis. It's not a safe area. If I was you I'd look more East Memphis or in one of the suburbs of Mississippi like Southaven.

Won't come out until closer to the festival but typically headliners go on around 10-10:30 and play until 12-12:30. In 2016, Neil Young came out around 10:30/11 and played until 1.

I've actually stayed there before! It's about as nice as RRI is going to be and it's an easy spot to get in and out. Much better area, not super nice but you'll be safe.

I’m pretty sure I already know the setlist they are going to play for this one. Would be nice to see dmb play for under $60 tho

It's also very easy to get close to the stage. I've gotten railed at BSMF many times.

I’m really stuggling to figure out wether I go to this show or Pensacola. I can go with some friends or go to Pensacola with my dad. Beale street fest is only going to be fun beacasue I’ll be with my friends. It will be cool to see the band with some people that have never seen the band before.

The dmb show its self is really not my cup of tea. I much rather go to Pensacola to see the tour real tour opener. The set in pensacola will be much more interesting because it’s the tour opener and not a festival set. It’s also a nicer venue in a better place then Memphis.

I just don’t know what will be the better experience? I feel like I’m going to be pissed when Pensacola gets a few pretty cool songs, and Memphis gets Shake me, seven, cornbread and bayou.

If it were me I'd probably end up doing both so I'm not much help!

I hear ya though, they'll definitely be completely different shows/vibes/etc. Is your dad a huge fan? I feel like that would be fun and your dad won't be around forever to experience these moments with! Also you won't have to deal with the festival crowd and Pensacola is a small venue from what I understand.

Whatever night has the most hip-hop/rap will have the most high school and college kids actin a fool, but I'm sure DMB will be full of older casuals at their first show who claim they "LOVE DMB!"

**Pro tip for any first timers: Bring shoes/boots that can handle mud. It almost always rains either over the weekend or in the days leading up. Might also help to bring a poncho or good rain jacket, just in case.
