Updates on the Houston Drug Raid that left 2 people dead and 5 LEOs injured:
• Two Law Enforcement Officials have been fired
o One of them for taking 2 bags of heroin from another LEO’s vehicle (the other LEO that was fired) and identifying those as being taken from the house (despite saying he retried them from the house)
o The other one – injured in the firefight – for lying to obtain the no knock search warrant. None of his informants said they have ever bought any drugs at the house.
• The Houston Police Officers Union President – who blamed the shooting on community activists – now says he is “extremely concerned and disturbed” by the allegations but they were “not indicative” of the performance of the rest of the departments 5200 officers.
• All current cases Goines is involved in are under review – I wonder about previous cases.
• The second officer fired – Gerald Goines – is likely going to face criminal charges, per the Houston Police Chief. It will be interesting if those charges include murder, and injuries to the other law enforcement (kind of like if I am breaking into your house with some friends, and the homeowner shoots and kills one of my friends, I am charged with murder(
