Official COLUMBUS OH-IO 2016 thread

Here is to hoping and praying that our band returns to Columbus after 6 long years! (Sounds promising)
I have some of the best memories of my life seeing DMB in the lawn of polaris amphitheater while in high school. I still live in the area and am still extremely bitter that they tore Polaris amphitheater down. So whether it be Huntington park (preferable) Nationwide arena (rumored) or even crew stadium PLEASE come back to COLUMBUS so I don't feel like the only DMB fan within 100 miles!

I booked a room at the Hilton 2 blocks from Nationwide on the rumor that's where it is. Will be great if we can walk to and from the venue.

Always thought that if DMB would play Hang on Sloopy in Columbus that this would change the world

There are hardly any room available by the venue. I'm guessing it is true. And the fact the price of staying at the red roof inn is 200 for the night is a strong indicator.

My wife is a GM for a Hilton Garden Inn in Baltimore. You don't want to know how cheap we can stay at the Hilton there in Columbus.

What's the assumed date at Nationwide? Friday July 8? Asking for a friend.

Great perk for sure. I was just looking for the heck of it and decided to see how much a room would cost and they were all sold out. Finally found vacancy at red roof inn and booked it. Wasn't expecting g that many people to book all those rooms on a tour rumor.

God, how I miss Polaris! I saw countless shows there. Some of the best times of my life.

Just a tip for all of you out-of-towners who are booking rooms in anticipation of the Columbus rumor being true, check out The Lofts and The Downtown Doubletree. Both are very nice, and a super short walk to NWA.

The doubletree also has a pretty kickass bar/restaurant inside.

    Re: Official COLUMBUS OH-IO thread

Polaris was a great place to see DMB, but the land value was worth too much to the owners and complaints from nearby homeowners grew. Columbus was a regular stop until they played Crew Stadium. First time I ever saw empty seats at a DMB show...and the sound in that place is awful as it bounces around the metal benches like a tin can. I'll never forget Dave's face when they came out and saw all the empty seats....looked at Tim and kinda shrugged. Huntington Park was much better, but still not ideal. I don't understand why they would play Nationwide, indoors, in the summer.

The 'Shoe has started to host some big shows now that they replaced the natural grass with field turf that doesn't get ruined by 1000s of concert goers. Here's hoping for a big show at the 'Shoe!!!!

We can dream of them playing the shoe but that would never happen The rolling stones, Kenny Chesney and one direction couldn't sell it out last year dmb would have 20k people in a 100k stadium.

Yeah, it's not a likely situation. They couldn't even fill Crew Stadium. Even though the concert seating charts at the 'Shoe cut off about a third of the seats, they'd need another act to fill all the seats. Just hopin', that's all.

They are coming back to the 614?!

I honestly thought that 2006 show at Polaris was the last one we'd see in central Ohio...barring a college campus tour.

They have been back twice since then (Crew Stadium and Huntington Park). But it's been 6 years.

That Crew stadium show was pretty damn good though!

I was at Huntington Park while i was actually living in Texas, now I live in Columbus. I recall a very serious issue and now that i live here, I believe it will be a major problem....where the heck do we tailgate? Should we designate an official Ants bar or something?

    This is serious shit...

I agree. I've always wondered if they would allow tailgating in the lot next to BBR.

Otherwise, the only bar of decent size is brothers. We would basically not have any other options.

After tour dates are confirmed, hopefully with a home show, we can work with a bar for Ants drink specials.

I am pretty sure my bluff will be called because i didn't believe the Nationwide rumor, but I offered my home with free beer and Fireball for tailgating on the rumor board.

Same here, I said tailgating at my house because i didnt believe they were doing summer arena stops, what was there to lose, lol. Maybe I can be forgiven buying a round or two.

Probably old news, but what other arena stops are rumored besides Columbus? I just can't imagine an indoor DMB show in the summer.

I think just the kick off show in Wichita is in an arena. The Clippers have a home game on 7/9, I doubt they would allow a Friday concert there.

I just used 20k Best Western points to reserve a suite. Rated well on trip advisor and 20k points-wise is pretty economical for loyalty members. Just one of the perks of traveling for work.

I just saw where the Columbus convention center was having a large landscape trade show. Over 12000 people attend. The dates are 7/9 to 7/12. I'm sure if this has something to do with the room shortage but I'm still very much excited for a Cbus show, if the rumors materialize.

That would make sense. I don't see that many people booking rooms based on a rumor. Fingers crossed for a Cbus show!

It'll happen at Nationwide Arena. I just pulled this seating chart from the TM website but there isn't an event listing yet. Apparently, the whole floor is GA.

Unfortunately I did not find any seat charts for other 'non-regular' stops that are on the rumor mill, such as Moline, IL and Zephyr Field in Louisiana.
