We closed on our house at the end of June and have received like four packages since that are for the previous owner (along with occasional non-junk mail).

They left us their email for any questions on the home, so we were kind enough to let them know about the first several packages (and they have reached out about others). A truck just came with a massive box from Wayfair and I declined it. I kind of feel like a dick, but at some point people need to be responsible for their items, not me. Right?

Oh absolutely! I mean, they're ordering it and having it shipped to the old address. That's on them, mistake or not.

Tell them you're going to start declining all packages and have all mail sent back to the sender. Tell them they need to change their shipping addresses in all their accounts they have. At some point they need to cut their ties with your house.

Had it happen a lot at our last house, even 3 years after being there. Used to return them, call UPS to have them come pick them up, etc, etc. One type of package came on occasion and eventually I even called the company they came from, spoke to (supposedly) the owner who was appreciative of me letting them know the recipient no longer lived there. And yet we still continued to get them.

We may or may not have discontinued trying to return them...

I have a Google Pixel 2, for some stupid reason Google Play has switched to automatically going to channels whenever I search for an individual album. If I go to "Jeff Buckley Grace album" it goes straight to Jeff Buckley Grace Radio with a big mix of artists, I can't get to any individual albums. It's driving me nuts.

Have you gotten all the notifications and emails that it's going away and being replaced by YouTube Music? I tried to get in the habit of using it and do on my computer sometimes but then learned you can't listen to music on the app with the screen off unless you have a premium membership. Fuck off with that.

I didn't get anything it was just all of a sudden completely different and I had no idea what was going on, that sucks. What app do you recommend getting that is closest to Google Play Music? I don't currently have anything to organize my music by on my phone.

If you have Amazon Prime, I use the Amazon Music app more than anything. It's plenty good for my needs. Once in a while they do a promo of their premium service for something like 99 cents for 3 months and I'll usually take it, though I don't often feel like I'm missing much without it.

Edit: they just recently incorporated podcasts. I think I'm going to give it a shot and see if I can drop one extra app.

I’m still using the Apple Music app. I feel like I’ve tried all the other popular apps and always had issues with some aspect of it, so just continue to use what works for me. Maybe I will give Amazon (another?) try sometime this week.

Yea, I'm content with Apple Music as well. A ton of good stuff and it's compatibility is ideal, especially because I added my 70-year-old mother to our family plan and she loves how easy it is.

YouTube music is ok. I liked GPM waaay better as far as navigating. Took me a solid two weeks to get the settings the way I wanted them in YTM (ie not playing videos etc). I like it now that I'm used to it.

My main irk is that my old playlists get wonky sometimes and will leave random songs out. For example I have a McCartney Lennon playlist I made ages ago and for some reason the other day it blacked out Imagine, Band on the Run and Jet. I just added them again but still a pain. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to it.

The payment isn't too bad. Not any worse than spotify, plus you get ad free YouTube videos which is huge if you watch a lot of YouTube vids. That to me was worth the price.

leaf blowers

don't get me wrong. I grew up in a heavily-forested area. I know that leaf blowers can be very useful to unsettle a big pile of leaves and make them easier to move around with a rake. however, leaf blowers being used on public sidewalks to clear out a few twigs or whatever are COMPLETELY useless. they're insanely loud and use a bunch of gas to do nothing at all. every time I see one being used in a municipal setting, it looks like a broom would be 100x better

If you want to own them fine but they belong to all of us and should remain in their traditional places each holiday.

I wish people would bring in their cats at night. I swear two cats were about to fight. Sounded like it was right outside my window on the driveway. Loud meowing, growling. Then a couple minutes later it sounded like another cat was being mauled by a dog. Barking, lot screeching meowing. Now I hear the same cat growling again. Active night for cats around here. Hope I don't go out in the morning and find a dead cat in the neighborhood.

Honestly I haven't watched Peanuts on tv in years (work and cable cutting), I own them and watch them on my own. But yeah, that sucks. Christmas to me was always gathering on those nights and watching Peanuts, Rudolph, Grinch, and Frosty with my family. My mom still texts us every year "Charlie brown is on tonight!". She's had a rough time during the pandemic, this might send her over the edge.

Some cats just can't be contained... I had a cat that spent 23/24 hours outside. She'd come in every now and then, eat something, fuck with the dogs for a minute and then yell at me to go back out. Literally climbing up the door and meowing LOUDLY.

We've one parking lot at work for customers, and one parking lot just down the road with a path leading from it to the side of the customer lot. Employees are supposed to park in the one down the road, alas not many employees do. I do because I really don't mind walking, like, a few hundred feet. It's not far. I don't mind that other people choose to park in the customer lot. That's up to them.

We also have one employee, Jim. Jim is a dullard. To paint a picture, he's probably 55 and has a graying ponytail with no hair from his ears forward. If you need a terrible, atrocious joke that simply isn't really even a joke, Jim's your guy. Last week, I was on my way out when Jim decides to stop me and tell me not to hire one particular carpet cleaning company in the area because they use your water, which you pay for. I hadn't said anything that could've been misheard as "Hey Jim, give me your thoughts on regional residential carpet cleaning companies" but he decided now was the time all on his own.

Jim parks next to me today, the only two cars in the employee lot, and starts bitching about how we're the only two that park there. That it's not fair that everybody else gets to park in the customer parking lot. I told him to go park there then, I truly couldn't give any fewer shits who parks where.

I do not like Jim. He's also terrible at his job.

Scenario:

I pull up to a left turn lane, behind one vehicle. Turning light turns green. I wait more than a few seconds, and then honk to let person know to go (probably on their phone, most of us have done it). Vehicle in front of me still does not go, so after a few more seconds, I honk again....right as the vehicle finally starts to go. As soon as they hear my horn, they decide to stop, so I keep on honking. I'm not in a big hurry, so I am not anxious that I have to be somewhere, just annoyed. Vehicle decides they aren't going. Few minutes later, turning light turns green again. As soon as it does, I am honking again. Vehicle, which initially started to go right after light turns green, then stops again (partially in the middle of the street) as I keep on honking. By this time, there are like 5 other cars behind me, and they start honking. Vehicle finally finishes turn. I, and other vehicle do as well.
