I just don't know how anybody could ever be done with a team they care about. Maybe ease off the fanaticism, but to isolate completely is an impossible task for somebody who genuinely is more than just interested in box score stats of specific players or looking cool in their Cubbie blue gear. We definitely aren't the favorites going into this season, but would you really want us to be? I'm just hoping the Cubs thrive off the negativity and prove everybody wrong.

While I agree with you on the infamy part, and you won't find many in here who will disagree with the choke jobs that are associated with the organization, our history of spending big and coming up short is relatively young. In past decades the Cubs front office would have been content selling merchandise and 7 dollar beers in the bleachers and reaping the benefits of television coin, but those were our fathers Cubs. Recently, we have been spending big and striking out. I will give you that. I just believe it is only a matter of time before we gather up a solid group and bust that curse. Our club is a mess right now, but things will start getting better. I hope

I like Marlon Byrd.. Billingsley still gives me nightmares from 08

I still say in 08 we should have played the Brewers harder on the last day of the season. We would have gotten to play the Mets i believe instead of the Dodgers a muh easier opponent

If by still say you mean in hindsight you say... because no one was saying that at the time. We were the best team in the NL that season. There was ZERO reason to fear anybody. We just didn't show up. We lost because we played like garbage. We were the better team.

Edit: And that last game was a complete game by Sabathia. Do you remember how ridiculous he was in 08?

Yea we were the tem to beat i just remember walking to my last class before game 1 just being nervous becasue of the dodgers power pitching. And we punted that alst game starting angel guzman

Why would we use one of our top pitchers with everything locked up and a playoff series looming? There was nothing to gain in that game. We had every right not to use a starter that we needed in the playoffs.

The game was still 1-1 going into the 8th inning. I wouldn't call that a punt. Unless you think the starter that day would have pitched a complete game like Sabathia. Chances are said starter would have been out of the game by then.
