Favorite Live Trax...

What is your favorite Live Trax?

My top 5 (keep in mind this is my opinion):

1-Live Trax #35 Post-Gazette Pavilion: I loved the overall tone of the show.. this is when GrugGrux hit and everything just sounded so powerful this show..FTWIS and Dreaming Tree is solid on this is awesome..plus a live Dive In!!

2-Live Trax #22 Montage Mountain: I was in attendance for this one.. You Must Die Trying to Billies to Two Step..My god I love this show...

3-Live Trax #10 Pavilion Atlantico: My god a double encore and the crowd energy was amazing. first live recording of Idea of You, while Grey Street, ABI into Two Step and #41 sounded amazing. Never hear it.. stop reading and go listen...its on spotify..Go.....Now!!!

4-Live Trax #14 Nissan Pavilion: Leroi's last show... Enough Said ... Solid show..and the first Space Between in 4 years..

5-Live Trax #15 Alpine Valley Music Theatre: Man, that 2008 year was a great sound no more Butch and adding Tim. Halloween was an amzing sound and the band was just on fire... A solid listen this was tied with two other Trax but man this sound is just crazy!!

Again my opinion.. feel free to jump in and add your own.. thanks for reading

Aside from shows I attended in the Live Trax series, I probably return to 16 the most, with 23, 34 & 43 not too far behind.

Been listening to 26 a lot lately, such a great opening run of songs/performances.

    Others I listen to often:

    3, 7, 8, 13

1 - #36: More so because it reminds me of my weekly drives to my grad school classes...I have a weekly ritual of playing CD 2 on my way to class and back, so it means a lot to me. Also, probably the most unique Seek Up I've ever heard sonically. I really don't like how little space there is between songs, but with a 3 hour show, I understand why it was done. Badass setlist too, Snow Outside and Stone in Acoustic set, Two Step - Halloween encore, love it.

2 - #8: The sound of the band is 2nd to none here. Super Freak is insane, and the flow of the setlist is awesome. 2004 DMB is the BOWA and also, that Sugar Will is an all-timer.

3 - #15: For the Halloween-Water Into Wine reprise alone. What an incredible add-in by dave (and Carter). Crush is spectacular and Tim sounds fantastic, that Proudest Monkey may be one of my all-time favorites.

4 - #28: I love 2010 DMB. This setlist is great, and some really powerful performances. Blackjack is great, Squirm Opener is powerful and the encore is brilliant.

5 - #1: For obvious reasons. #41 with Bela and Jeff is one of my favorite versions. 20 minute Last Stop to end the show, DMB perfection.

I like them all though, hoping for another D&T LT soon as well as something from 2012 and 2020!

#1 and #3 - Classics. Great years, setlists, performances etc. Gold standards.
#37 - Love this 1997 show w/ Bela sitting in on 6 songs (LIOG < Seek Up < Two Step < #41 run is amazing!)
#45 - Home Venue for me. Great, diverse setlist. While many may not prefer a LT deep in the DMB 3.0 timeline, the performances are tight and a very enjoyable listen
#7 - Another great show with Bela (see a pattern for me?) and they were hitting on all cylinders that night
#14 - Roi's last show...not necessarily the best LT, but has great meaning and strong performances
    #39 - Can't go wrong with a Fall 98 show
#54 - Never heard the bootleg (Caash) but a great '96 show

Favorite D&T LT are LT 41 (99) and LT 48 (94). Best D&T is Luther College, but not technically a LT.

We have very different opinions on these... I don't think any Live Trax is bad, but these would not make my top 5. Interesting your number 1 is LT 35. I like that. Were you a newer fan around the time, or just really like the Big Whiskey sound. I really do.. Just curious!

    Mine are:

LT 3 - Unbelievable 2000 show. They could release this entire summer tour and I wouldn't even be mad. Especially if they sound as quality as this.

LT 16- The other great 2000 show.. LT 11 is missing something mix/emotion wise... But I've listened to this and LT 3 100 times probably.

LT 47- It's a late release but holy smokes. It's such a surprise treat. A 97 show featuring Bela Fleck on a few tunes.. the Seek up is amazing alone, but the whole show is classic 90's DMB.

LT 45- A great 2013 show... Unique set and lots of energy.. 2013 was a rock sounding tour. They were bringing the heavy on lots of the songs. These are the kinds of shows and setlists I'd love to see more of from the trax series. Pretty unique for 2013. Pig- Two Step Encore... Right the fuck on. Plus JTR and a great version of Good Times Bad Times. I'm a huge Zep fan and thought they did well on this.

LT 31- A nice companion to Folsom Field and the sound is much better mix wise. Great bonus disc too. I'd welcome more 2001 shows.

These will change by the time I hit submit.

26 is a weird show. Opening night of the 06 tour. They hadn't started introducing the new songs yet.. It was likely at the height of the band not getting along... But this is a solid show with really good performances.

LT 28 is a sneaky one. It was such a common setlist that year. Playing the "hits" and it seemed like everyone was clammoring for night 2 but we got this instead. I think it is the better choice. Really fun show and energetic til the last minute. Even songs like Jimi which were played to death that year sound fresh and fun.

You're the only with LT 30 so far. I like this one, but just don't like that is a compilation.. I Know I know one out of 50 plus live trax is a compilation, but I like the flow of show.. not the greatest hits. But I do enjoy this for the look into the time frame of the band as they were recording R2T.

This is the problem for me. Its a series of live shows, so a compilation shouldn't have been included in the series

yes. agreed. It should have been offered as a bonus disc or part of warehouse or something.

I am absolutely blown away that DMB played at Lupo's in 1995 and it is a LT 33. Can someone tell me how the quality is? I've been there and will probably get this item but just checking on quality. Thanks.

It's a great show, and they include some tracks from N1 to fill out the second disc. The soundcheck jam from n1 is something I go back to a lot

Thanks everyone, just ordered from Music Today, which means I'll get it around Christmas.

I have a 10% shopping code but after realizing that I'd only get $1.30 off or thereabouts, I decided to save it in case a cool hoodie is on sale.

THIS... was my first DMB show ever! And I didn't even go for them, I went for Big Head Todd, won tix on the radio and drove from Boston.

It was a weeknight and we were going to leave right after Big Head Todd. Thank goodness we agreed to stay for at least 3 songs of this Dave Matthews Band we'd heard of but never heard...
