Ha even with what we are doing pretty much all austin bars and venues plan to follow cdc that I’ve talked to. Also it’s not just finding a shed with 2500 that makes sense it’s finding 40 across the country that can support the staff that is dave matthews band. One of our friends is affiliated with Blake Shelton and George straits camp and echoed the same. These are massive productions and there isn’t tv money like sports. Takes a lot to put them on and go city to city.

you think these joints are that different? NBA arenas don't hold that much more than some of these joints. Plus they're harder to socially distance

There’s none and to even put on remotely the show that they normally do they would need 2500 people on every random city to pay like $500 a ticket. It’s not happening until they can tour as normal.

Also you lose any credibility when you compare to sports. DMB doesn’t have a billion dollar tv deal. Based on streams that are free you’d be lucky for big shows to pull a few thousand that would even pay $10.

Toronto has cancelled all it's events through July 1 including Pride and Canada Day. Next up would be the Honda Indy. It takes a couple of months to set up and I'm guessing there's more than a few people sweating that decision. It's been a few years since I've gone, if they run it this year I'm going. I feel the need, the need for speed.

Every state should have a mask mandate. We're in the fourth quarter and TX + MS are trying to make the country fumble on the one-yard line.

I don't have a problem with the event happening or the fact it's indoors. If they want to socially distance the show, require masks, etc. Fine. The Ryman has been doing it successfully for several months. It can be done.

But to throw all caution to the wind now is stupid. We're literally 2-3 months away from normal. Let's not blow this. Not now.

This is my big thing. If we can just HANG ON and be diligent for another couple of months while the vaccine is distributed, we can actually, safely open back up by the end of the year/next year. But the more we transmit, the more variants we'll cause and this will go on for years more.

I live in one of the worst states for both COVID cases and vaccine distribution. (I'm fully vaccinated, thankfully.) It's been a nightmare, our horrible governor just lifted restrictions again and it's like... we're so close there's a light at the end of the tunnel, can we please just be good citizens for once and we'll make it out.

The whole liberty anti mask enforcement thing is pretty odd to me. I truly don’t think mask are going to prevent everything, but I suppose it helps SOME. I think the mandates are pretty harmless. Let’s keep them for a while. As I work in a grocery store, I feel like the lifting of the mandate hasn’t changed mask wearing much. I’d say it’s sill like 90 percent of the people wearing mask. Hopefully it stays that way.

What exactly were the mandates lifting? Were masks required in MS just to be outside or was it just for being in businesses?

I'm in GA and I honestly don't know if we have a state mandate for masks. People either wear them or don't at all places. I went to my local board game shop last night and they happened to be hosting a game night at the time. There were maybe 40 people there playing a couple different games and 3 or 4 had masks on.

In Texas the order lifting the mandate forbids a local jurisdiction from fining a person over a mask. That's it. Businesses can still require it. Schools can still require it. Nobody was getting arrested or fined or ticketed for not wearing a mask anyway. It's almost completely posturing, like 99% of politics are, but those in one party are celebrating like it's January of 2020 and the ones in the other are acting like it's the beginning of the apocalypse.

We haven't had a mandate since 1 day. When you start going up to the north Georgia mountains (Dawsonville/Blue Ridge, etc.) its like covid doesn't exist. But like most states, when you go out around the metro area, there is pretty much full compliance.

And to some degree that's okay. Where the most people are and where it's most congregated is where you need full compliance. If things are pretty rural then there's less interactions and busy places. Not to say COVID doesn't exist there but the impact/spread won't be as severe.
