Re: Ted Lasso Series Discussion (SPOILERS TO BE WITHIN)

Drops at 11 for me and I have to get up at 4:45 to work until 3…not sure I want to/will be able to avoid spoilers.

Looks like I’m staying up!

Nicely done. Everyone got a fair ending. This episode felt back to their roots.

The 'offscreen' stuff is a bit strong, but great easter eggs throughout. Some real LOL moments (Danny with two chicks, opening scene Beard, Nate casting a good luck spell)

Would be cool to release the book as a sequal/spinoff.

    C- episode

    C grade season

the Believe sign scene was very touching, they got me there

otherwise a very campy episode as a result of having too much going on. the whole thing was basically a montage of heartfelt moments. not bad per se. i just wish the execution was stronger

anyways, a real treat to see all the old faces and loose ends taken care of

Surprised they appear to not be doing the spin-off. They print money.

My grades would be higher, but I'm right there with you. Pretty meh overall.

The broad strokes were fine. The execution remained piss-poor.

I thought it was a nice ending....not a huge fan of watching it on my phone in my office due to the drop time.

Pretty much my exact feelings. I'd give it a B-/C+ at worse. It wasn't bad by any means. But as you said, too much going on. Little earned.

I'm wondering if they're going to do the AFC women's team as the spinoff.

Twitter thread that’s making me re-think the ending: https://twitter.com/lassofiasco/stat...WgMJVIRNMcRg6w

But either way I enjoyed it. Be it a season 4 or a spin-off I hope we get more.

Loved the ending, one minor quibble that it seems no one has picked up on yet:

Prior to McAdoo’s PK the announcer says “this is madness from 18 yards.” A PK is only from 12 yards out (well inside the 18 yard box). That just seemed like an embarrassing “own goal” from a show that is so focused on getting the little details right.

Pretty good finale. Not sure I’m buying that twitter thread, all seems too hopeful and the Rebecca stuff ended perfectly I thought.

I mean it definitely seemed like a dream sequence because Ted woke up on the plane. It wouldn't be the first time Bill Lawrence had a finally with a flash forward with the main character seeing what they hope the future will hold

Great ending to the series. It's been a fun ride and I'm going to miss the characters. Felt like everyone got their ending, dream sequence or not.

This and Maisel ending a few days apart has played havoc with my emotions.

I think there’s something to be said, and is mentioned in some comments in that thread. That Ted falling asleep could just as easily be showing he is changed and at peace, and can now sleep on planes.

Not to mention he never knew of Rebecca’s thing with the Dutch guy. But it was weird they used the same little girl from her fantasy/dream sequence when she was viewing herself as a child.

Almost like the main/title character's personal growth was a major plot arc if not the whole point of the show.

AFC Richmond wasn't about Ted and never was. But Ted Lasso the TV show certainly was.

Yea, his acting like a whiny jerk during the final game, then not seeing him when Ted arrived back home or at the kid's game at the end (unless I missed it, which I could have) all kinda lent to the feeling that Ted made his family whole again.
I don't think that was the intention (it would be terrible if it was); maybe it just would have soured the mood to remind us by his presence that Ted lost his wife during all this.

Dr. Jacob really highlighted Ted's selflessness. Even if it wasn't Ted's thing, if it was your thing he was excited for you. Dr. Jacob was snarky and bored and showed no interest in what others were into.

Gauging by the other characters who exemplified this view (Rupert, West Ham Nate, Zava) it didn't bode well for the characters.

The ones who listened and cared, flourished.

Going off that, I'm going to say Dr. J got the boot.

I was waiting for Michelle to blow up on him the entire time. Also, nothing came of their awkward leaving of London after the random Paris trip

The more I am reading that thread the more I am believing there might be a season 4 coming still. Either way, I really enjoyed this show the last 3 years. I liked season 3 a lot more than others and I felt that last night's episode was a nice send off if it is over.

Not really a stretch at all. The last few scenes with Michelle and Dr. Jacob involved the awkward leaving London scene and him being an absolute ass during the Richmond match. Her reactions have been "maybe the grass isn't greener."

But the clincher for me is Ted rolling his luggage inside the house when he gets back to KC. The fact that there is no Jacob at Henry's game just confirms this. He's literally out of the picture because Ted is back in.

She did not run up and hug Ted or show any kind of overt affection to him. I guess not out of the question but still think thats a big jump when they didnt show any clear break with her BF.

I feel like this is how most shows/movies handle reconciling couples though. It's not usually an emphatic affectionate embrace. It's the slow moving tentative gestures until the comfort starts to set back in.
