Re: Favorite beer of choice?

Scored the last 3 four packs of the collab. Really excellent.

This is the first milkshake ipa I’ve had.

Hit up a new brewery in Queens on Friday night, Fifth Hammer. Great open, warehouse space, really lively and there is a bowling alley next door. Oh, and the beer is pretty good too. They had lots of different types of beer on tap, not just NEIPAs. (They even had a cider on tap.) And the IPAs they did have were distinctive in their profiles. Not all of them worked for me, but at least they are not following the trend and trying to create their own 'voice'.

Going to hitchhiker tonight to give their Guava milkshake IPA a try. Looks tasty, the apricot one they made in this series back over the summer is one of the best beers ive ever had.

Anyone here heard of, or used, Hopsy? Friend of mine sent me a link and was able to get 4 32 oz. growlers for $20, including shipping, with the first order. There is also no recurring order requirement or membership. They only ship to certain states, so not available for everyone, see below for areas they currently service. Ended up with 4 beers, all from local breweries. The growlers have a slight pressure fill, so they should last a week or so in the fridge. Also, the packaging it comes in is amazing. One inch moving-grade padding and a 4-pack carrying case, with bubble wrap and a Viking ice brick. If anyone wants to check it out, let me know and I can share a similar link via DM for the first order.

I have been fortunate to surround myself with people who get just about everything the beer world offers. I have been able to try a lot of things, stuff people just getting into beer could only dream of trying. This is why CBS will sell out here. Those who have never had it on draft around here will be seeking this out. Last time it was available here on draft was back in January of 2016, and it was a keg of the 2014 CBS release. So many folks just getting into beer haven't even had a sniff at trying this beer yet.
I sometimes forget how lucky I am to be living right down the street from Founders. When KBS or CBS go on tap, it's as simple as walking a few blocks. I've even been in the brewery when they've put both on tap impromptu style.

It also helps being so close to Kalamazoo when Hopslam comes out. Never shortages here.

if you can grab some Stoneface Double Clip from 11/8, it's amazing. The last batch was awful and they knew it. I can't believe how good this one is

Apparently Thin Man Brewing is doing an Other Half Can release here on 12/2. Other Half just did one of these in the Syracuse area and it was nuts.

600 cases, 200 each of 3 different beers (Beers to be determined), merch, and kegs of all 3 beers on tap as well.

Across town at Moor Pat, they are going to have an Other Half Tap Takeover that day as well, not to mention CBS will be on at several spots too.

If anyone relatively close is into beer, and ever wanted to come to Buffalo (which I can't imagine many do...), 12/2 would be the right day to do it.

I picked up a 4 pack of a Relic DIPA today, and it was pretty good. I've had a few things by them, and none have disappointed. Steng, I know Relic seems to be one of your go-tos. Figured I'd echo the message.

Also, Melvin Brewing is in Mass now. I first tried it a few years back when I was in Colorado, and I had a friend who was visiting Wyoming bring me back some 2x4 a few weeks ago. I was very excited to see it pop up in a local liquor store. $16/4 is a little steep, but the stuff is delicious.

Lots of microbreweries popping up around me, which is great to see. I picked up a job about a month ago at one of them to pour beers in the tap room. It's fun to be able to talk beer and get paid for it (the weekly allotment perks don't hurt, either).

went to the pizza place attached to PNC park for lunch where they sell some random craft beers.

They had something called Owl's Brew Radler.. apparently they make a bunch of beer styles that are mixed with tea. They had a stout with cocoa nibs and coconut mixed with tea available. Looked on their site and they have a watermelon beer and a blonde ale both mixed with tea also. Anyone ever hear of or try these? Im kind of interested in the stout.

Radlers / Shandys go back a ways, typically summer time drinks. Personally not a fan, and dont even consider them "beers"

To answer the question I have some Mad Elf, Founder's Breakfast, and SN Celebration.

I have 2x 2015 BCBS and 1x 2016 BCBS in the basement but I'm not cracking those for a while.

I'm basically right here with you. Had a pretty decent stock the past few weeks that I drank down.

Definitely going to hit up the shop on my way home from work and stockpile up. Obviously going to keep it IPA centric but I'd like to mix a couple stouts or porters in there to start to get into that fall vibe even more.

not putting any effort in trying to track down BCBS this year. It's a young mans game and I'm over the days of waiting 3 hours in line for 2 bottles of regular 1 barley and 1 coffee

17 Coffee was quite tasty at FOBAB, def seemed a bit more acidic again this year from the coffee, and I always enjoy how that plays with such a rich chocolatey beer. However I had it towards the end of the session so any nuance beyond that aint gonna happen.

Reserve was also excellent, exactly what you would want, a more barrel forward BCBS, without being as intense or alcohol forward as Rare.

As far as my thanksgiving beers, idk. Could be any number of things, though probably not IPA's the fridge is mysteriously absent of much hoppy beer right now.

yeah, the big can. I got 3 of them.

Though, local tap house has it on tap right now, so I MAY hit it up on draft tonight and save the cans.
