Should lower reserved tickets for these shows be hard to come by?

Yeah, it's a beautiful venue. Acoustics are unreal for an outdoor venue. It suits D+T very well. I really, really wish they would have picked that place. I'd be losing my mind with excitement.

I made this in the 2014 Northerly Island thread. Needs updating but there is some decent info in here:

Note, the pizza places are not in order like Chris has them lol. Only one I would put as #1 is Lou Malnatis

Then Chicago Pizza Oven Grinder but that's not even "Chicago pizza"

I live 15-20 mins away and my husband refuses to go to this venue for a casual night out. Like others said, its just isolated so when there are shows its a total clusterfuck getting in and out. We typically uber everywhere, but forget getting an uber. It's a ton of walking. Last time we left Farm Aid early just to duck out and find a cab and get outta there.

Like Chris said just about any hotel is fine.

I wouldn't stay out at Ohare unless its drastically cheaper - the Ohare hotels can be pretty spendy too.

100% agreed. Just a bit west and this would have been a killer venue. And much easier to get to

    Northerly just sucks.

I would not travel for these shows. Even living downtown Chicago, I'm on the fence. I'm sure we'll end up going, but I would rather travel and go to Nashville or SPAC

It will likely be all seats - well folding chairs - for this show.

At farm aid the stupid folding chairs got all moved/pushed around. It was nearly impossible to get down the row or have anywhere to stand. Really annoying.

Go there. Either there or Pizano's is my favorite thin crust in the city.

I do like pizanos. I don't get to the south loop much (just pre concert) but will check it out. Cool, thanks!

So one of my friends up there offered my group of 4 to stay at her place up in Logan Square!! So stoked to be able to save money from hotel costs.

Plan on taking an uber from her place to the south loop/Buddy Guys/Aquarium and walk from there.

Just take the blue line. Depending on where she lives in LS, you can just hop on at California or Logan Square and take it to the Lasalle stop, then walk a couple blocks.

    Public transit, people.

Personally I'm not a fan of Buddy Guy's, but that's just me.

I actually put the train in my first post but it failed to go through then forgot to put it in my next one. I just didn't know which color line it was off hand.

I would just get dropped off at Buddy Guys then walk to the venue from there. If I'm going to have a drink somewhere around there, I'm going to Millers or the Bar Below.

Service at Buddy Guy's is poor and high covers, but the music is good at least. I did meet him once there and got his autograph.

So she actually lives in Roscoe Village so we may either take the brown line or grab an uber xl since there will around 6 of us, and we can just split that - depending. Worrying about that more as time gets closer.

She's about a mile away from the Beer Temple so I know where I'll be going at 11 each morning.

    CONS
    1. the venue is terrible , very surprised the lawn is actually going to be open
    2. getting to the venue might be worse than the venue itself, getting in the venue through security also blows
    3. so many other venues that could have been chosen (theatres / Montrose as mentioned above like Mumford did)

    PROS
    1. Keep your eyes peeled they sell 4dollar cans of busch light (pretty sure workers bring them in and pocket the money, FINE BY ME)
    2. No PIT it looks like, BONUS!

I've been a long time observer of the site/forum, but this i my first post. I'm looking for some advice. If I wanted my best chance to get great seats to this show, would I join Warehouse (never been a member) or just be online the moment tickets go on public sale? I've been to many full band shows but never had any good seats. Now that I have kids and busy adult stuff, I really want to have the best chance to get great seats if I am trekking all the way from South Dakota.. Thanks!

Warehouse is a crap shoot but it increases your odds of getting seats. I'd join.

It certainly doesn't hurt, but it's not like it's a fail safe.

Every tour there are people that luck out on the Warehouse and get great seats and those that get shitty seats. There are people that get great seats through Citi card presales and those that don't. There are people that get great seats through Live Nation public sales and those that don't. There are people that get great seats on the boards and those that don't...you get the point.

It seems that every year for a while now the Warehouse has been getting worse and worse seats as more tickets get allocated to things like Citi card presales, premium packages, etc. But there still are decent WH seats out there.

I'm in the minority here, I *love* seeing shows at Northerly during the summer. Especially when the lawn is not open. That makes all the difference in the world as far as congestion coming and going. We always just park in the south loop and walk over. As long as the weather is good, it's great for a summer night on the lakefront.

For D&T though yeah, terrible choice, especially with the lawn open. I wouldn't mind it with the lawn closed (capacity then is about 8,000.)

One nice thing when the lawn is open is that at least they keep the lawn and the people on it entirely separated from the people in reserved. Different entrance, merch, vending, bathrooms, etc. And people on the lawn have no access to any of the reserved areas. It doesn't help with traffic and stuff coming and going but, makes it easier to maneuver during the show at least.

Does anyone remember if you had to pay for parking in 2015? I can't for the life of me remember.
