    Re: 2018 Tour Rumors

As someone living in the South with a relatively small travel budget, (college student so I have practically no money), I wish they'd do a Raleigh-Charlotte-Atlanta run over a weekend like they did Charlotte-Atlanta-Missouri in 2016 or give more love to Atlanta and do a two night stand there. Those venues have seemed to eek out great shows recently like Charlotte in 2013 and Atlanta in 2015 and 16. As far as I know, the attendance in Raleigh was lower than Charlotte and ATL, but Walnut Creek was a great venue.

Yeah sucks that Raleigh gets shows sporadically now. Used to be a given every year. Charlotte/VA Beach/Bristow have become my second home venues for sure. Never made trip down to ATL for a show though.

To carry it over to this thread:

Boyd Tinsley talks Crystal Garden, Dave Matthews Band, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and more

"Question: DMB is probably touring again in 2018, right?
    Boyd: Absolutely, yeah."

    Re: 2018 Tour Rumors

I've been one who has held very little doubt all along that they would be back in 2018. To me, the real question is what the tours look like going forward. I would have no problem seeing them cut it down to 30 or so stops per summer. I know we've had that conversation in multiple threads on what it would look like.

At this stage in the band's career it makes sense to cut to a more manageable number of stops. It keeps the band fresh and hopefully would keep sets fresh and exciting.

Here's my ideal outlook for the next two years.

2018: 30ish show US Summer tour

2019: February full band Mexico weekend coinciding with an album release. All songs debut in Mexico and the album drops N1 of the Mexico shows.

    Summer tour supporting new album

Or just do as has been suggested over the years - cut down to Caravans, one per region.

    3 nights each - 24 shows

    Gorge
    California
    Colorado
    Texas
    Alpine or Chicago
    Atlanta or WPB
    CVille
    SPAC

I would be good with this idea. What would suck about it though, if it were a caravan setup they would likely drop Alpine in favor of Northerly Island in Chicago and that would be a damn shame.

If prefer 11 2 nighters and 3 nights at the gorge. That way everyone gets a "local" 2 night stand.

I'd be okay with this. Probably would hit Cville, SPAC and the Gorge every summer.

Hoping for a big year next year. Would love to do Mexico x3, Raleigh(who knows), Charlotte, Va Beach, Bristow, (Alpine or Deer Creek), and Gorge x3. Would be my busiest year yet. Now lets just hope sets look like 2013 variety wise.

I actually think its completely unrealistic to think they could pull off caravans every year. Interest would die quickly. Plus theyre way too pricey and involved to put on.

So, something like this would touch all over the US.

    SPAC - 2 Nights
    Camden - 2 Nights
    Charlottesville - 2 Nights
    Deer Creek - 2 Nights
    WPB - 2 Nights
    Atlanta - 2 Nights
    Alpine - 2 Nights
    Texas - 2 Nights
    Colorado - 2 Nights
    Vegas - 2 Nights

You should add Merriweather to that list.

It sold fairly well this past summer.

Perfect. I'd probably attend 3 of those runs depending on timing.

I would not expect the Hartford/Mansfield Fri/Sat combo to disappear. Just my thoughts though. Hartford is a staple.

There should be midweek shows. They are not as expensive to put on (they are driving the trucks through those areas anyway, tour staff is still being paid), and there are actually some people who prefer going to shows during the week.

Much prefer the weekend shows. Trying to get to venues on weekdays, fighting the commute, is such a pain in the ass. Plus, weekday shows cut down on proper tailgating. Weekend shows FTW!

I prefer a midweek show if it's in Little Rock, because that's 20 minutes away.

Everywhere else I have to travel to, so weekend shows are easiest for me to get off for/take off without using vacation time.

I can take off any time, so I'm good either way. It's usually finding someone that can go with me that's the problem.

And Chad, after Little Rock's pathetic attendance last year, I'd say they need to just stop trying there. Do the AMP or try the MAD Amphitheater soon to open. The AMP will always sell out, MAD will be interesting if they in fact play there. That's a 15 minute drive for me.

I'm fine with during the week. Schedule a client meeting in that town and get the company to pay for the travel

I don't care when it is. If I want to go, I'll make it work. Cant remember which year, but Deer Creek once was like tuesday, wednesday, thursday. Go to work, go to dmb, rinse and repeat.

I love small weekday shows in general, but would never want DMB on a weekday. I know I'm spoiled with Alpine, but DMB is a full weekend event that includes pre & post parties to me.
