Re: DMB Live 25 - 5LP Vinyl (180g)

I was just thinking the same thing the other day as I listened to it. There's one minor flub in the middle when everyone is ready to go back into the pre-chorus section but Carter goes to the verse. But it's really quick. But what struck me was that the lyrics sound more thought out than usual. I just read them on the almanac and some lines are clearly made up and don't make sense, but overall it has pretty cool lyrics.

What is the story on the "wrong one"? I couldn't find anything by searching or backreading... Maybe I didn't look hard enough?

I agree - it's a great version with a minor flub... but hey - that's what live bands do.

It's a different version than the one lifted on the packaging, I think.

The album calls it 6.20.03, but it's 6.18.03.

yeah I like Jeff, Rashawn and Tim a lot but the old days with Butch and Roi had a great jazzy sound

It's a nice little tune that in my opinion is better than plenty of other songs they've put out since it's time. Would be cool to see it come back
In case you haven't had a response - and some of these details may be a little off but I think the general story is accurate. Correct me if I am wrong.

This song first circulated as a sound check, I believe a couple sound checks were caught by tapers, one was a grainy video from some nose bleeds.. prob a fan who also worked at the arena. I think this was early 2000. Eventually folks started talking about it and talking about it and the band broke it out. And then it fizzled just as quick. If you are asking why it fizzled, not too sure... but probabaly nothing specific. It just went away, they prob got bored with it.

break for it was called run while we can until it showed up on official setlists. i believe it was first soundchecked in 2006; the grainy video you speak of was a soundcheck for the 2007 vegas shows if i remember correctly.

Wasn't it part of the second session with Mark Batson that had the other 2006 songs? IOY, Shotgun, Break Free, etc.

I think he does have a writing credit on it, he probabaly helped them finish it off even though the main riff had existed before. Can't remember if it was on any official studio release.

So, I am still dealing with music today to try and get a replacement for my scratched record. The 4th record in my set was first warped and then I was sent a replacement record. That replacement was scratched. I have been waiting for over a month for a resolution from Warehouse and Music Today. I want to try to take care of this on my own. If any one has an extra opened or not they are willing to part with, I would be interested in purchasing. Also, if you would just like to part with the one record I would be interested in that as well. I know it is a long shot but if someone could help me out I would appreciate it. We may be able to work out some sort of trade too as I have all the DMB vinyl releases minus the promo vinyls.

How big/bad is the scratch, and is it impacting playback?

It spans about a half of on inch at the beginning of side h. That song skips for a good 15 seconds or so at the beginning.

If it's deep enough to cause skipping (not just pops/ticks/clicks) then definitely avoid playing it - you don't want to fuck up your stylus.

I'd keep trying with MT; perhaps even contact the pressing plant about it. I believe it was Pressed at Pallas USA

Has anyone had music today reimburse them for a replacement record bought of of EBAY? This is out of print and I know they are going back in forth with Sny to try and get these repressed. Can I call Music Today and see if they would do that?

I've been considering selling my set. It's in great shape, been spun less than 10 times. Not sure what a fair price was to ask though

Here's the price history on it, if you want an idea of what it's going for on the secondary market:

Thanks for the link. I've been watching ebay here and there while trying to come up with a price. I'm not sure I've seen a used set sell so it made it tougher to come up with a price.

I've seen one used set sell in the collector circle recently and it went for 200 bucks.

But people aren't really selling these if they bought them to listen to so that may be why we aren't seeing many used/open sets selling.

The open ones people bought to flip, or display (with no intention of listening to them)

Thanks Chad and Matthew for the info

I'm not one to flip merch and that's why I've been hesitant to come up with a price. The records are used because I spun them a few times but have less and less time lately for vinyl in general. I figure I should get the set to somebody who can enjoy it for what it is and at a fair price

Thanks to the amazing community at Ants I think I got a solution without waiting for Music Today. mHeiser92 Hooked me up with one at cost and I will just do a flat return of the faulty set. Thanks!
