Congrats on the WS title, Michael. What a fun team to watch.

Its going to be weird missing Deer Creek 2018. I have missed one show (2004 N1) since 2003. I have to come back for too many other things to make another trip back in either June, July or August. The good thing is I will be able to experience more west coast venues. Hopefully they make a run back up to Shoreline. I plan on busting my Gorge Cherry, so there are some benefits to moving out west.

I will probably reach out for some advice as that time gets closer for the Gorge. Lots of info in the Gorge thread, but its pretty intimidating.

I will absolutely take a look once the dates are released. See if I can work something out.

The FAQ is a solid resource. Its like the kid books that say make a decision and turn to page (insert page #) , you end at the sweet destination most times. Sometimes not knowing leads you right where you need to be.

As someone who used to do west coast shows (Los Angeles, San Diego), you’ll notice a big difference in crowd and band energy. It’s still DMB and it’s still fun, but the Midwest and Northeast shows are something else altogether. Can’t speak for Gorge, never been.

Chula Vista is a cool venue with a solid tailgate, but for some reason since 2009, the sets have been severely disappointing. Maybe cuz it’s Fonz home venue. I like to say I went to the last food show there (2008) lol

Any rumblings on what DC weekend will be?

Rumors thread says “similar to past few tours” and has Austin May 22, Camden June 15/16, Hartford June 23, Spac July 13/14, WPB July 27,28, and someone dropping hints of Alpine “in August”

Think they would bunch up July like 2016 and do DC July 20/21 or maybe throw it in one of the weekends around the July 4th?

Personally would prefer one of the earlier weekends so we can maybe avoid some of the July humidity.

Would love June. I always have work training late July, so making the Deer Creek trip and then the trip to work training is a lot of travel for a weekend. I would think they would space out SPAC, WPB, Deer Creek, and Alpine, but maybe I am wrong

I did some backreading as I'm looking to possibly hit up DC this year but have a couple questions....


1) how quickly do you need to purchase camping passes and where do you do it? it sounds like there is ample room near with multiple campsites near the venue but I wasn't sure if it still sells out or what the deal with it in general is so any tips/suggestions are welcomed. Camping seems like the best route as I didn't notice any hotels in walking distance to the venue and don't mind camping. Any reviews on which campsite is best?


2) do people rent camping gear? or just buy it and toss out if they are flying? I've camped at Gorge so I understand everything that needs to go into it but since i'll most likely be flying, wasn't sure if anyone knew places to rent.

Depends on what "best" means to you.

Proximity is probably Sleepy Bear, Dead Creek or General Camping through the venue(camping in a grass parking lot, very limited trees for shade). Backstage Campground is where I normally stay. Green Acres & Close-by Campground are a couple of others.

Sleepy Bear sells out. Maybe Dead Creek. The others should be available the day of.

I would just bring the gear if you have it. Fly Southwest check 2 bags. Otherwise I'm sure you could rent it.
