Store I was at this morning is a pretty small store compared to most, and they had 7/8 copies of it.

They linked to the black version, not the blue RSD version. If they had actually used the blue version it would be #7 instead of #20.

I just sold my extra Cake box set to a guy I met in line last RSD who lost his in a flood. I bought one that I thought I got stiffed on that never showed up and ordered one of the represses when they became available from the band.... both ended up getting delivered within days of each other. Held onto to both thinking I'd sell it when I found a fan that really wanted it.

Talking in line last RSD he told me about how he lost his collection in a flood and I asked him what was his rarist record he lost and named the Cake box set. The rest is history.

My store got like 8 copies and they hid them all around the store. I was not lucky enough to find one. However, they did have one copy left of Paris 72 (which they told me last month they had sold out of) so I lucked out there. Wish I had found that Foo though.

I really hate when stores do that.

People don’t line up early for this event to play a scavenger hunt - and 8 copies is enough to allow first come first serve.

Me too. I only went yesterday because they posted a video of what they had and where things were the night before, and I saw that Dead set and decided to take a chance. I was probably like 30-40 in line and went straight to where I knew it was and it was still there. Grabbed a couple other things, saw a guy find one of the last copies of that Foo and left.

Completely forgot that yesterday was RSD part 2 (new foster kid in our house and its been a bit hectic getting used to new schedule). Went by the LRS today and found plenty of leftovers, Miles, Roland Kirk, Aretha Franklin, and Cat Stevens. Pretty much all I wanted out of this drop, and didn't have to wait in line. Booyah!

I did pretty well this year, RSD-wise. I got everything I wanted except the St. Vincent single for Piggy / Sad But True, which was the thing I wanted most out of both parts of this year's selection

But I'm also not interested enough to buy it on the secondary market. I'm not paying $40 for two songs. Or, at least, two '90s rock covers

From the RSD Roland Kirk release on the back cover.

"Mastered by Caspar Sutton Jones and Darrel Sheinman from the original tapes courtesy of Les Tomkins
Lacquers cut on a Haeco Scully lathe with Westrex RA1700 series amps, Westrex 3DIIA cutting head; Decca valve equalisation and Telefunken U73B tube limiter; monitored on Audio Note equipment"

Thats how you provide transparency on your source material and cutting chain!

My only pickup was the CSNY Deja Vu Alternates. Was supposed to be a run of 10k but hype sticker says 20k. $24.99. Cut by Chris Bellman.

Anyone have any non-Ikea/Target setups (i.e. consoles) that they'd recommend? Looking for enough space for my turntable, receiver, two bookshelf speakers and record storage. Moved to a new house and looking to switch up the setup.

Whichever set up you choose, you're going to want your speakers to not be on the same piece of furniture as your turntable. Otherwise the vibration from the speakers will affect the stylus. That said LinePhono has a nice all in one stand for everything except the speakers and two shelves for record storage. My friend has one and is quite pleased with it.

Whoa! This is so awesome. My biggest boxset for sure. 11xLP.

Really cool that KGATLW started the bootleg series. Five albums, 11 discs, and a massive box for $158 shipped. This thing is HUGE.

Just saw that Analogue Productions is issuing a UHQR clarity vinyl version of Kind of Blue. That's kind of tempting even though I already have the 45 rpm Mofi version.

Sounds like there will be a 45 rpm version of this UHQR released at a later date. They have pressed 6000 of the 25000 33 rpm copies so far and are releasing them in waves over a few months. The 45 rpm version will be released after the 33 rpm version is done. I think I'll probably just wait for the 45 rpm version.

The 33 1/3 version has been out for a bit I think - they may be doing a second run with the page showing pre-order again. But it was released back in May

    I can live with that

Yeah, first 6000 were released in May. They are taking pre-orders for the next wave being pressed now. They will release in waves until the 25,000 print run ends.

Whats your budget? You need to spend some pretty significant cash to get a tube pre that doesn't color or distort your signal. I love tubes, and I wouldn't recommend them for anything other than really high end set ups.

Perfect answer man. I have a debut carbon. Pioneer receiver. Normal Polk tower speakers. Nothing super high end.

So easy decision, but another plug and play pre amp and call it a day b

Continuing education while WFH means getting to spin some records at “work”. Currently listening to the RSD Dead set. Particularly disc 10. Wharf Rat is definitely a top 10 Dead song for me.

you can find used gear for less, but if you're buying new I would say $1500 is the buy in point for tubes. And with the turntable/receiver/speaker chains most of us have, you can get very similar performance from a solid state pre for much much less. Cambridge Audio Alva Solo would probably treat you very well.
