This is awesome. A couple days ago I was questioning the merits of not showing up to counter-protest Nazis, and while I've changed my mind on just completely ignoring them, this is the type of non-violent counter that would be so much more effective than giving them what they want: an altercation.

The KKK did a rally in a town around here a few years back. The police chief gave them an escort. People called him a supporter and his response was something like "I hate the KKK, my escort got them in and out of town in 30 minutes"

I can def see that. And if he even was a KKK sympathizer, hes not a big deal in the grand scheme of things. The problem is we have a president who, while I don't think he's a Nazi, is very wishy washy on his views on the KKK and Nazism. At best he's completely tone deaf, at worst he's actually a sympathizer, and that emboldens these groups.

I think part of the problem this highlights is that people in the Trump constellation are more invested in what he purports to represent (smashing the wheel) than what he actually is (Donald before everyone and everything else).

^^ well, I mean it would seem SOMEONE got to him, and fast. He first sent out a tweet basically saying "all these anti-police protestors in Boston looking dangerous! god help the police!" something like that. But then it was rather quickly deleted, and one was sent out like generally saying "good to see message of being against hate and bigotry spreading, great job to the cops".

I think everyone on both sides views it differently so I doubt anyone could give you a consensus opinion, personally I can only speak for myself. I am largely not a fan of protests because they rarely achieve much - frankly I think many of the people involved just want their 15 minutes of fame and if they start trouble more the better because it raises news coverage of their movement. That said, I think counter protests are worse, they never achieve squat, they make tense situations worse which increases the likelihood of violence and they warrant more media coverage for both groups. Just my opinion, I cannot speak for anyone else obviously.

In everything in life, there are extremes. On the left and the right there are people who feel that they have legitimate concerns. And I'm sure many on both side can protest/speak out/etc peacefully. However there will always be extremes.

Howard Dean lumped white supremacists and the GOP together when he warned voters not to vote for racists.

Dean stated that Trump has "no moral character" but added that he is in the minority since "there’s a lot more decent Americans than there are the kind of people who were supporting the folks in Charlottesville."

Got it, anyone who votes Republican IN CONGRESSIONAL RACES is a racist. Give me a break, what clown that fool is. He also pretty much implies that everyone who voted for trump is a racist - again, come on - the claim is absurd.

Then you have maxine waters, a woman has been voted the most corrupt member of congress 4 time and successfully accomplished exactly 3 pieces of legislation in 27 years - now this 'lady' is a hero to the left. Wow. Has anyone seen her comments lately, she has lost it and is probably demented or senile. Her constant yammering about trump has gone to an extreme that no other member of congress has achieved. She called Tucker Carlson a racist for asking why she lived out of her district and how she paid for a multi-million dollar house on her salary. So asking perfectly valid questions to some corrupt old bag is racism now, what planet am I living on? I'd have thought it was time for the demented old bat to hang up her spurs and live off her ill gotten money but now that she is a hero to the left (for standing up t o trump - as if no one else is doing that) I expect her to be in that damn seat until she is either arrested or lying in a hospital bed. We deserve better from our reps.

How about that lunatic from Missouri, the state senator named Maria Chappelle-Nidal who called for the assassination of trump and will not retract it. Is this what we have come to. Good lord, what a crazy woman.

Trust me, I get why dems are not happy with trump but wow, some of these people have taken it to a degree that is insane and does nothing at all constructive for the nation. I have provided only 3 examples but lord knows there are many more. I am no trump fan but some of these attacks and statements are just plain absurd.
