Is this the end?

Is this the:

1. Beginning of the end

2. Middle of the end

or...

3. The end of the end

Let's discuss...

Personally, I'm having a hard time as while you can still see the energy on stage, the sets seem to not reflect this. There is no real mix-up in setlist writing (Yes, I know it's never been Dave's strong point) but with father time catching up to them, this will be a real thing at some point. Wanted to see what others are feeling about it too.

    Re: Is this the end?

I think they will tour until Carter cannot do it anymore, and then Dave will carry on in a Dave & Friends type situation. The setlists may be a little predictable, but compared to 90% of bands they change it up a lot.

    Re: Is this the end?

I think the band can keep going for awhile longer in this format. I would think the rest of the 20's, they seem to like what they're doing.

I would MUCH rather see a focus on Dave & Tim. And I have a pipe dream of Dave, Carter and Stefan tours that are stripped down, w/ rotating guests, less energiezzz, and catered to an older, again fanbase.

Not gonna happen though, we are not even at the beginning of the end

I would say we are finishing up hole 14 if you're to use the golf course analogy. Still have some in em, but the end is on the horizon. I doubt I'll be seeing DMB in 2030.

This tour is tied 3rd for most songs played all time, the sets are as good or bad as they always have been in the last decade or so. They burned me pretty good in Holmdel, but I still walked away with Pig. I'd say this is the best year since 2016, so if the "end" is near, this tour is not an indicator.

Why do people want the band to end? So they can feel good that the band doesn't disappoint them further? I don't get the reasoning behind the band should end soon.

I don't think anyone is actively rooting for the band to call it quits. It is somewhat of a logical conversation at this point with Carter into his 60s.

I in no way intended on this to be negative. I just wanted to start a discussion and see what people thought about the band and where they stand. Obviously, we all are going to have differing opinions but it's a realistic question like Speilmen230 said with Carter in his 60's and some songs becoming more difficult to perform.

They have a few more years in the tank. The question is how much will they devolve into typical classic rockband end of life paradigm. Even then once the band hangs it up there will be dave and tim events happening.

I’ve been hearing this argument for 20 years. DMB is not going anywhere for a long time. Dave has 20 years in him at least. The band members may change, but the concept is here for a while.

No. With Boyd out and Buddy in this band has been reborn.
In it’s present formulation it has only just begun.

Carter has flat out said that he doesnt believe in retirement....He also looks really good for 62. I think DMB tours at the very least 5 more years. I even think 10 is in the realm of possibility.

TS I agree with you. The band I saw at SPAC and Jones Beach look like they have no intention of slowing down.
