For the past decade I think I would have picked one of the two sets years but, otherwise, it's 2021.

2013 is the best one IMO. 2012 or 2021 second.

DMB 2 sets the 2 worst by far.

Oh man, I always ride hard for the two sets. But most around here really turn their nose at that due to lack of "variety". I'd say 15 tops 14 and is right in there with 17.

Just was listening back to 17 again today and realized it's last time I was legitimately excited to set list watch. And the last great show I've attended

I hear ya, I was trying to remember how that tour was received. Figured I'd throw a bone to 25th anniversary. And the last time Boyd sounded like Boyd

The comparison comes from quality of songs played, diversity in sets and the general feeling of following and being at a show

2012/2013 is probably the winner but looking at the entire situation as a whole, I choose 2021.

It’s been several years since Boyd has left and buddy feels more and more comfortable. 2008 post Roi > 2016 Boyd’s last concert were very rough years for the band and I’m glad they got out of that rut.

All good, I like the thread idea but I think '13 cancels out '16 for about 99% of the people on here

Aside from SPAC '16 there isn't a show or performance I go back to, album I listen to, or Live Trax I would buy from that time frame. It's all D&T or Dave solo for me from about 2010-2016.

This band sounded terrible in 2016. Something about that year (probably Boyd) was just bad despite returning to a normal experience and the debut of the new songs and liberating of rarer songs. When the band doesn’t sound good or seem like they want to be there, it doesn’t matter how many rarities they play.

I think 2013 is the last time the band really had a “wow you never know what’s gonna come next!” vibe to them

I can't recall much of 13 off the top of my head but 21 was best in a longggg time if you don't count D+T
If you could D+T then its harder to beat because they tend to play better sets overall

Lmao why are there ppl ranking 2012 so high in here? That was hands down, the worst tour of the last decade… although the Alpine weekend is straight fire. But there isn’t really another good/great show at all the entire rest of 2012.

In regards to 2021…what does the last few set lists say about the new songs/new album?

2013 was my second year ever of touring. The Northeast/Mid Atlantic run is legendary

2013 is the reason i tour so much in the post roi era as a latecomer to live shows. It's the reason I record videos at shows and why I do livestreams after shows/interact with this community heavily.

I went to 2 nights of hartford and got the following deep cuts

#34 Tease, JTR, Broken Things, Dream Tree, Running Down a Dream Cover (full band debut), Captain, BOWA, Blue Water partial
Spoon, The Riff, Fishtender (rare combo), Drunken Soldier, Recently, So Right

I also went to N1 of Mansfied the next tour stop and got another Captain and the final full band True Reflections

I skipped N2 Mansfield to hang with my pops for father's day and Victor wooten guested for #41

Camden and SPAC had solid weekends i missed but heard about from people that went.

I loved 2017 Dave and Tim especially given how much I hated tim on eletric and loved him on acoustic at that time. Went to SPAC for 2017 D&T and loved it but it's not touching 2013.
