Re: *** Official Lake Tahoe 2018 ***

Anyone been to this venue before? I have section 101 row 10 tickets and not sure how off to the side the seats are. This is one of two shows for me this year so want to make sure the visual/audio won’t be bad in that section.

Any thoughts would be awesome!

That was the section I had in 2015, its pretty far off to the side as far as that venue goes. But, its really small so overall its not nearly as bad as other venues. They have really good sound reinforcement there and the set in 2015 sounded great even that far off to the left. If you end up not liking your seats you can always move to the GA area, access is pretty laid back.

It's the parking lot of Harvey's Hotel that that they make into a venue. It's completely flat unless you're in the seats (metal bleachers) and the seats are set up against the sides and back of the venue.

Sure. In larger venues (this venue is smaller than an arena, but still larger than a bar or coffee shop) the instruments are not loud enough to be heard with extra amplification. So the instruments, or amplifiers, are either mic'ed or plugged in directly (DI) to a mixing board at the back of the audience area. This mixing board is then fed into a large bank of amplifiers with is then fed into a large array of speakers, many of which are hung from the sides of the trusses on stage that also hold the lights. There are also sometimes really large subwoofers that provide the very low end sounds (this collective product is referred to as Sound Reinforcement) . The mixing board is used to provide a balanced and pleasing mix of the instruments and voices so that the audience can hear the music being played. The altitude and low humidity of Tahoe provides some challenges for sound mixing (low humidity air is less dense than high humidity air, and the temperature plummets rapidly after the sun goes behind the mountain so the temp gradient between the warm bodies of the crowd and the cool dry air is significant and can affect the way sound travels) so the team that builds and supports the front of house sound has a very sophisticated set up. Many acts also travel with their own sound reinforcement system, and they may or may not use the house sound system (they may rely on their own sound entirely, or sometimes may use the house sound to supplement what they brought). One of the things you will see at the Tahoe stage are side facing speaker arrays hung farther to the side than the main front facing speaker arrays. This allows the sound to be projected to the side seats that allows you to hear a good mix even from the side seats. Even though DMB has their own live sound engineer who is providing the main tweaks to the mix that you hear, there is likely a house sound engineer there who knows that venue and sound system well who will help with how to make the sound as uniform as possible in that venue for the mix that the bands engineer is providing. I have a couple of acquaintances that fill in for FOH sound on that system from time to time throughout the season, and that venue is top notch from a sound reinforcement perspective.

I’m looking for a pair in Tahoe. Excited to see the show there. We didn’t think we could make it but are going now. I have an extra pair for Hollywood Bowl that I can trade if interested.

    Hey everybody,

I just wanted to say that I have 2 GA floor seats available. Extremely sad that I can't make it, but I guess work comes first. Anyone interested? Not looking to profit, just trying to cover costs and let another fan enjoy what will be an awesome show!

What do you want to see, I'm pretty familiar with area and can offer suggestions. Hike, walk, bike, drive-sightsee, etc...?

If you've never been to the lake before and don't mind spending a bit on money, the Heavenly Gondola takes you up to a pretty epic view of the lake. It might not run midweek in the off season though.

The drive to emerald bay is great, and both inspiration point and the vikingsholm parking lots have great views. From the vikingsholm lot its an easy, but watch out while dodging traffic on the highway, walk over to eagle falls. Eagle lake is a very short hike from there, but hike not walk as there is some up and down and the surface isn't a simple walking path. The hike down to vikinsgsholm (huge old wooden house/castle thing) is great, but coming back out at that elevation is moderately strenuous.

Sand Harbor has the best water for paddle boarding, swimming, staring down into the depths, not too far of a drive from Stateline.

For a quick morning/afternoon spin that should get you started. Let me know if you'd like more suggestions.

More options on the way too and from emerald bay: The Taylor Creek area has great walking paths, and nature signs/displays, you can spend a couple quality hours here. Depending on the time of year you can watch the salmon run up the creek.
The road to Fallen Leaf Lake. The lake itself is great to spend a couple days at, neat to look at but nothing too spectacular. But, on the road about halfway up to the lake there is a huge stand of aspen that is about my favorite thing to look at and walk through. If you get morning or late afternoon light in there its magic.

Zephyr Cove is a nice place to go to as well.

The Gondola is from 9-5 tomorrow. It is 49 bucks right now which isn't too bad and I would highly recommend it
