Re: 2018 Tour Rumors

I feel weekend shows are better because generally the tailgating is better. People arrive early, and hang around most of the day. I find its also easier to find people to go with you on weekend shows.

I wish Jones Beach was on the weekend. Will never happen though. Venue sucks enough as it is (actually just had a terrible sound experience there for Incubus), combine that with lackluster sets and a weekday show, and my incentive for going continues to drop. despite being 15 min from my house.

I am bias and hope they get a chance to play Wrigley Field again next year. I do not know if they can sell it out, but it would be fun again. Those shows years back were awesome. Most likely play Northerly Island though if they skip Alpine once next year.

I wish they'd play Busch again. I saw them in 2009 at our ballpark in Little Rock and it was such a fun environment.

I hope they don't. My friend and I are wanting to make the trek. It's the last 'big' venue where we haven't seen them

    Bingo
This would be the death of them. At this point their fan base is older and not able or willing to travel like they used to.
You would see a huge drop in sales the second yr and on

They used to play what's now known as The Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre (in Tinley Park, IL) as the defacto Chicago show most tours that also involved an Alpine stop.

    A Wrigley show(s) wouldn't involve skipping Alpine.

I'd like to see them bring back the two night Hartford runs; save my ass from driving to Mansfield. Though SPAC is pretty much the same drive as Mansfield for me and a much more enjoyable weekend experience, maybe one night in Hartford and two at SPAC will suffice.

Good call. Merriweather sold out relatively quickly. And rumor has it, since they renovated the backstage area to include a pool as well as making the whole operation green, artists have been raving about playing there.

But of course, I'm also a homer and would prefer shows there. So, I guess we'll see.

Found the Alpine numbers in another thread. It said 40,000 sold, out of 50,000. Which is odd since Alpine holds 37,000. 40,000 out of 74,000 is not good.

I'm not sure if you remember this but they didn't announce the Wrigley show until after the Alpine shows so they didn't have people skip Alpine for the Chicago show.

It's not odd as they changed the max capacity due to allowing camping.

So Alpine only sells 25,000 tickets max for their shows now? Just due to camping? Not sure why those are related.

"But for its 40th anniversary year this summer, the 27,100-capacity Alpine Valley won't host a single concert. It will be closed for an entire season for the first time in its history."

Really? You must not know much about alpine then. They now allow camping where the green parking lot was. So there are less spots for parking, thus they had to lower the max capacity. Perhaps for shows when they don't allow camping the capacity goes back up?

Its actual capacity is 37,000. Im just confused on why there are limiting it. So they allow camping, whats that have to do with actually filling the venue?

If they sell 27,000 tickets that place would only look half-full correct??

Because they removed the green parking lot to add the camping area... If they have less parking available for fans they can't let as many fans in

I havent been since 2012. I see what your saying now. They dont have the parking for 37,000 now due to the fact they turned one of their parking lots into a designated camping area. I assume the back lot.
