I love when Billy Preston arrives. The change in the room is astonishing!
I wish they spent a little more time showing how The Beatles intro'd the songs to him. Im sure he caught on really quickly, but the doc just kind of went from him walking in to playing pretty fleshed out parts. There had to be some learning in there.

But yea he seems to have been the MVP of those sessions. Who knows what we would have gotten (if anything) without him showing up.

I watched it again tonight, that had to be one hell of a moment for those who were there. I wonder how those cops felt years later when they realized they broke up the last Beatles show in history?

I could watch another 3 parts!

I agree on wishing some things were fleshed out even more. Seeing some of those songs created was amazing. It was certainly way lighter than what was expected. They even knew it would probably be it for them, and they seemed to me to be having plenty of fun.

Who knew Ringo was so boring?

Re: The Beatles - Get Back (Disney+)

Finished it up tonight. I've been pretty vocal about white washing the history with this documentary and I'm happy to admit I was wrong. It gave a great look at the moment: some bad, some great, mostly just a band trying to figure out how to cram in an album in 3 weeks.

I thought episode one was ok. It was a bit too garage band rehearsal for me but had enough bright spots to keep me interested.

Episode two was great and being in the studio and adding Billy completely changed the tone. I don't think they finish anything if they stayed in Twickenham.

Episode three was fantastic. I have to hand it to Peter Jackson on the lead up to the rooftop concert and the concert itself. I've seen that footage a million times but never had a felt like an average person on the street hearing it for the first time until today. I cried watching it this go around.

I'm really sad, this is really pretty much the last of the Beatles stuff from the vault that remained unseen/unheard as far as major releases go. There's not much new to be heard.

This is very intense viewing, as I don't want to miss anything. Not even through the first episode yet. Have to watch in 30 minute chunks.

Super underrated moment in this doc was when Ringo started playing Octopus’s Garden on the piano, and George took an interest in the song and started helping him with lyrics and composition. Knowing that song ended up on a legendary album like Abbey Road makes that moment so much better.

Funny Beatles related family story, my aunt stole my mom's confirmation money and when asked what she did with it ... "Saw The Beatles at Shea Stadium" didn't go over too well

There was a great video on YouTube a few years ago. This guy broke down John's songwriting process for Real Love, I'm Stepping Out, and I think Mind Games.

While writing Mind Games he had two or three different bits that he eventually tossed from Mind Games but then made them into songs in their own right over the years. It was just sheer brilliance.

I looked for the video but it seems like it was taken down, shame because it was amazing. If I ever come across it I'll post it.

got through the first part and half way through the second.

Its amazing, you don't get this type of footage for bands nowadays let alone the beatles. Literally witnessing Let it Be written before your eyes.

You can also see the tension in the band that Yoko brings. Have a bunch of guys jamming together creating music, drinking and having a good time- and then yoko is just sitting right there basically on Johns lap knitting not even paying attention. Paul even mentions that Yoko speaks for John

Yoko fucking sucks but the Beatles were breaking up regardless of yoko.

There was just too much talent in the room.

Don’t have to imagine it. We used to refer to our bassist’s gf as ‘Yoko’. She was right there all the time when we were jamming. She’d even do that same wild screaming into the mic shit. I never knew how similar we were to the Beatles!

Watched Ep1 last night. This really does live up to the hype. I was nervous to start after hearing so much talk about it. To see the dynamics between them played out in real time is incredible. I'm getting the vibe that it was more a Paul v. George reason for the band breaking up than anything so far. Crazy how disinterested and unengaged Ringo is. Seems like he really doesn't want to be there at all.

Loved the line where they were talking about getting kicked out of playing places and someone said "can't play Manilla again." Then John responded "Manilla or Memphis."

Not just Paul, but even John. John seems more blatantly done with him than Paul. There was the scene were George was explaining why Clapton is so good and John completely ignored him. Granted, John is obviously in a very bad place physically but his body language was completely dismissive.

it seemed like the convo was between Paul and George there though. I dont think John was ignoring, so much as just doing something else at the time.

    That was my take anyway
