I rather see the 914ce then anything Rockbridge, but we all know that won’t happen

Listening to Ocean and the Butterfly this morning - I'm wondering if Dave is referencing the Butterfly Effect with this lyric. Tiny, seemingly innocuous actions (littering the plastic bag) having unknown future consequences (how many miles it goes). Maybe this is just a throw away lyric... but "Dancing with the Butterfly" could mean "gambling with our future" every time we aren't proactive about climate change. "The Ocean and the Butterfly" is just one giant thing we take for granted, and the tiny insignificant things we're doing to it that are becoming significant.

I just thought he was being blunt with the title in regards to the butterfly effect and the future.

I thought I saw it in the feeds from the pit we caught snippets of, but it may have been the lighting.

I definitely noticed the sunburst SJs were the main instruments for the first two shows...

They aren't solid...it's a blackburst, grey to black from the center...

The grey is deep/dark though and the gloss finish is super reflective, so it's not always easy to see the burst.

Whole new world of sorts...trying to learn a song a week. The first week started with Can't Find My Way Home, but then I decided to listen to So Damn Lucky, so that became the tune for week one.

My other good acoustics are excellent Takamines, but the all solid wood construction, lack of a cutaway, and no heavy pickup system on the Larrivee...it's just so much more alive, more and more complex overtones, greater sustain, fuller sound...not just louder, but more bass and other frequencies that either aren't prominent or aren't there in my Taks. Undoubtedly the best acoustic purchase I've ever made...maybe the best overall in guitars.

The only downside? The boss isn't going to let me get another guitar anytime soon...sigh...

...more most firstest of 1st world problems...

    TL/DR version...LOVE it!

Nope no black jumbo at all last weekend. Was curious if he'd be using it at all, but I had a good view of Craig both nights and didn't see it at any point.

It's actually made me pull out the Taks and start playing them more...diving deeper into their voices...

The way a new guitar (or other music gear) can perk up your ears is always fun.

So he may not have even brought the black ones on the road...interesting. As a guitar geek I now want to know why...

I'd guess that either during the last many months or even just during the rehearsals the bursts just sounded better...grabbing his and/or the bands ear more than the blackbursts.

I guess if he's unhappy with them I should try to reach out so they can have a loving home...

The band is at a point where the songs they write are better in the studio than they are live. Songs like Aligator Pie, Broken Things, and Again and Again sound awesome in the studio. I'm also willing to be Walk Around The Moon sounds 100% better in the studio. It seems the band is no able to recreate on stage what they make in the studio.

Ringo just kind of exists, but I'm going to be so sad when we don't have Paul anymore.

Just got the PRS Silver Sky for an electric and I love it so much. I have a signature Martin for my acoustic, but it's honestly a pretty dark sound. I'd prefer something lighter as well to have something that can cut through a mix.

I was looking at my tour stats, and I just realized I have only seen Bartender one time at my first show 20 years ago- and I've seen SUAD more times than it.

Id like to see Bartender this year

Which Sliver Sky...talking fretboard wood and color here...I need to be able to picture it.

Not a Mayer fan (he's a great player, I just don't connect w/ his music or it doesn't connect with me and his voice is meh at best), but I've been playing a PRS since 1990...still have the Custom 10 Top I got for HS graduation that year and a 1994 CE-22 w/ a maple top.

The Silver Sky is the high-end "Strat" I would buy if I were in the market, but if I were to buy another strat (to go along w/ my modded 91/92 Am Std w/ maple board in gun metal blue) it's extremely unlikely that it would anything more than half the price of a Silver Sky.

My Larrivee is hitting my ears perfectly. Bought it on line based on sounds of other guitars with some similarities and it has exceeded expectations. I spent the better part of the last few years dead set on getting a dreadnought back in my collection, but then in the last month before buying the Larrivee, I started thinking 000, but I like the snap of a longer/standard scale length, so and OM was the obvious consideration. And upon receiving it and since playing almost everyday, the size is just right. I'd still like to get a nice dread in the future, but it's not pressing.

DMB is one of my favorite bands...keeping this post slightly on topic...

I hate that in the last 16 shows we've seen I had to hear Bayou eight times...

There are so many other tunes that I love that's I've never heard/seen live at all with some that I've only seen 1-3 times. The imbalance is quite frustrating. I'm still holding out hope of getting a SUaD this year... along w/ Dreaming Tree, a full band Stone, and MANY others.

My mother cam to visit for the first time since 2019 (we saw her a few times during the lockdown, but this is the first unmasked and undistanced visit. She gave us some crap about the DMB posters we have on our walls. She's called us "groupies" before.

    I'm 49 btw, so...

The reality is that she's not a music junkie, but my dad is and passed the gene onto me. Turns out it's contagious, because I gave it to my wife. We can quit anytime, we just don't want to...

My mom's also not a live music junkie, which I've been since my she and my dad took me my first shows. We've been taking our boys a couple of concerts every year for the past few years...when we it makes sense and is affordable.

I'm not sure why it concerns and bothers her, but that's truly a her problem.

Has he seen the average age of a DMB crowd? 34 isn't even close to too old
