If it's a real NY style bagel, I'm pretty much good with any of them. Even a boring old plain bagel. I do love me a poppy bagel with scallion cream cheese though.

I think, chain wise, Brueggers was the closest I've had to a real bagel. Not bad.

I have a soft spot for Thomas' cinnamon raisin bagels. I know they pretty much "don't count", but I enjoy them with some spicy mayo and ham and cheese. Good sweet/savory/spicy combo.

I made a batch of everything bagels recently. Thought they came out pretty tasty. The house smelled incredible. Only issue was that they’re same day bagels. They were hard as shit the next day.

Dunno if it would've worked with your bagel but we frequently buy a dozen and freeze most of them. They usually defrost and toast really well.
