I was looking at the R&RHOF video again today and it occurred to me, I wonder if/how many of the names of the possible singers that the demo tape that was originally sent out would be ones that are recognizable much today. I do remember Stone mentioning in PJ20 that some, it's not that they were bad, but it was obviously guys trying to sort of do an Andy Wood tribute/impersonation cause they figured that's what was wanted, but they were so wrong.

Blu-ray lists the following as the bonus videos:

    Bonus Videos:
    Mind Your Manners
    Rearviewmirror
    Black (Full Performance)
    Immortality
    Masters Of War

Does that mean, for those who have seen the movie, that there's only a single song performed in full on this disc? Black? Are there any in the movie?

if i remember right, black is the only one in the movie that ISN'T full. they fade out on mike's solo (and i was like, really???). every other performance shown is in its entirety.

the others listed aren't in the movie at all, though mind your manners is played at the end credits.

and I remember reading the story in the PJ20 book that's being referenced here. Frankly, based on the entirety of what we know about Abruzzese, I have little trouble believing the event went pretty much as Brendan O'Brien tells it.

chatter on pj boards for the past few weeks has been some eddie solo south american shows in april, some pearl jam stadium shows in summer, and a fall us tour. only the euro show rumors have had any sort of dates attached to them, though, and most of those were spot on/close.

well as I've talked about plenty of times, I've never been an especially big or enthusiastic concert-goer, but so I wonder how much in the minority I may be in that I'd be much more excited and interested in getting the next new album than any tour dates being announced.

    I'm the opposite.

I want a tour where they're not solely supporting an album. I want to see them have a show that's a good mix of their catalog rather than 8 songs off the new album. Especially given PJ's declining records with the last few.

I would be perfectly fine if pearl jam, DMB, name any other 90s band that still tours, never made another new album again. what's the point? their catalog is secure.

What did fans think of Let's Play Two. Not the biggest PJ fan, definitely respect them though, just came across it on Amazon and watched it last week. I've never seen them in person, but everyone on this board says the put on a better show than DMB. From Let's Play Two, I didn't get that. Or that Eddie Vedder is some fantastic performer. They're solid no doubt, but it doesn't have the same vibe as DMB show or a U2 show. It's just a rock show with no frills.

I would rather go see PJ over DMB. Let's play two is ok. Not a great selection of songs. MM's solo on Black is amazing though. I like that version on inside job too, but the selection of songs isn't great.

if you're looking for some quick, live PJ to get into. Try out Live on Two Legs

    I haven't seen LP2 so I can't speak to that specifically

the reason I think that PJ is better to go see than DMB at this point is because PJ plays the songs they know you want to hear. both bands have had marked declines in live song performance quality, roughly equally so (although I think you could argue that PJ has declined less than DMB), so that's a given. PJ is not going to play a 5 song stretch like Gravedigger...>Seven...>Be Yourself...>You & Me...>Squirm or the like

Well, and they play longer than DMB every night, and their songs are shorter than DMB, so you are talking 30+ songs in a night. So even if it is an album tour and you get a bunch of new songs that you aren't particularly fond of, it's not really at the expense of other things you want to hear.

They play long enough to be able to pack in new songs, hits for casual fans, and rarer songs for the diehards and can send everyone home happy.

Have seen PJ live and they were great, I much prefer DMB's range of musical styles though, I'll take D&T miles ahead of both. As for either band never doing another album that just doesn't seem realistic to me, people like Eddie and Dave love writing music and always will. I suppose both could continue writing and not turning it into a full album, songs like Granny and JTR etc.

I should say--I would not want to dissuade either group from doing an album if they wanted to

I will not be clamoring for it in either case. I will never say "man, those guys need to write another album!" If they release one, cool, I'll buy it, I'll listen to it (probably for a week's time then never again).

My fandom to Pearl Jam is fairly new, and so I haven't been really into them prior to an album release. Do they do much road-testing of new songs before they appear on a studio album? Do they have a large collection of original songs that have never appeared on a studio recording? It seems like no, but I don't know.

Seems like Dave is content to write and never record, but not sure if that has been Eddie's M.O.
