Looking to pick up D&T obviously, maybe Gary Clark Jr, Danger Mouse, Ravi Shankar, the ORG Garage Days and Mike Watt for sure, Sun Ra looks good, I love Oingo Boingo so the Forbidden Zone is high on my list, and Sarah Mclachlan isnt RSDBF but coming out the same day and that looks great. All in all, worth getting up early for, a better list that RSD 2017 IMO.

Very excited for Luther. I doubt I'll end up with a RSD version, hopefully the black vinyl is out before end of year.

Damn, the new Sgt. Peppers has shipped 40,000 units this year, a 50 year old album. Wow.

Vinyl this year has 16% of physical album sales, that's truly shocking considering just 10 years ago it was 1%. Should blow past the 10 million unit mark before end of year.

Thanks! Really excited to make the first trip out there with my wife and best man from our wedding!

We've talked about it for years, and have always done SPAC, but we figured it was finally time to make the pilgrimage.

Yes, I was contacted for this release to help set the record (pun intended) straight on why all of those copies of RR95 and Crash were skipping

Would be awesome, but would seem unlikely. That would have been something to include with Crash if they were going to do it.

(still bitter about the eBay seller screwing me over on it).

That would be one hell of a treat if they ever did include it in something.

My guesses on Doby's Luther surprise:

    1. It comes with a digital download that is actually of the remaster rather than the original master.

    or

    2. Turns out the show was originally recorded to analog tape rather than digital and we're getting an AAA cut for this vinyl release.

    My guess is #1.

Wouldn't Luther have been recorded to DAT similar to RR95?

Oh I certainly would assume so. But maybe a shot in the dark that since it was just an acoustic duo, it could have been recorded to like 4-track analog tape much easier than the setup it would have taken to record a full band show to analog.

I'd say #1 is far more likely though! The only thing that gave me pause was that he said *this thread* specifically, and the lack of a download was a major issue in the DMBc thread for DMB25.

I'm gonna ask for Luther College as an early Chanukah gift. Then I'll try to grab Garcia, Fleet Foxes, and Neil Young.

Re: **The Official Vinyl Collectors Thread**

Alright. After years of collecting vinyl for fun, I finally have the space in my new condo to set up my stereo (including my first vinyl player). Here is a breakdown of my set up:

    -KEF speakers (circa 1985-1990)
-Denon Precision amp (circa I have no idea, probably close to the Kef speakers)
-BSR McDonald 2310x record player (I'm thinking circa late 1970s to early 1980s)

I came in to all of these parts through family and friends. I just put them all together and I love getting to finally listen to some of the records I have collected over the past couple of years but I'm not sure I want to stick with the equipment I have. I'm sure this question has been asked a million times but is there a "Vinyl for Dummies" reference guide on the ins and outs of equipment and creating the best set up? I don't want to go broke but I also don't want to ruin the records I've spent time collecting and want to get the best sound I can. Not sure I can afford an upgrade beyond the bookshelf KEF speakers but I'm almost sure I need to upgrade the record player. Does having a high end receiver make a huge difference? Any insight would be helpful. Thanks.

My signature has a link to a previous post with a good deal of recommendations on equipment at multiple price levels.

If you have a set budget in mind, we can make some recommendations. You're probably okay to stick with those KEF speakers if they're in good shape.

Do you know the model number of the Denon amp?

Is it the color of the LPs?

I just saw that announced on the DMB FB page that they'll be Red, Yellow & Blue but don't remember hearing it anywhere else before then.

Hi Doby, I recall you when Crash was released there were a lot of folks who had issues with the audio quality of the color splash copies. Do you know if the same issues are anticipated for the Luther College release? Thanks.

There shouldn't be any issues if the temps and pressures at the pressing house are bang on and the compound is good. If it's a concern, I'd recommend just going for the eventual black release as I would expect that to be a higher print run but I'm going to try for one of the color variants just because I think this one will be translucent and look way cooler than Crash. That's just a guess, I have no idea what the RSD copies are going to look like.

I picked up Jim Croce - You Don't Mess Around With Jim, and Grateful Dead - In the Dark the other day. In the Dark sounds really good. What's the deal what that record? They've only made one pressing? Every copy I've seen in store has been like over $30 bucks. This was $20, and didn't want to pass it up.

I do most of my pre-orders through Bullmoose, they're pretty good about getting things there on time. Plus, free shipping for this and you earn points
