That's understandable but this "train" literally departs from O'Hare airport and will take you withing one block of your hotel. It's an extremely common form of transport from O'Hare to downtown. There will be signs pointing to the Blue line and any airport employee will be able to point you on your way...It's that common.

Edit: The Blue line is the only train you can pick up from O'Hare, so it's not like you can take the wrong train or anything like that. Once you see it, you'll see it's very well laid out.

    Mentions Twin Anchors.

Probably my favorite spot to go if I can.

Getting an Uber is pretty easy there, but so is finding the Blue Line. You will just have to determine what the bigger pain is - sitting in horrible traffic or figuring out the train with luggage.

I'm a bit confused on what time you will be arriving, but if its 445pm or 645pm, you will be sitting in very bad traffic, especially 445. If you are arriving at 645pm, it might not be too horrible to take an uber.

    edit:

    Twin Anchors is amazing.

I’m more worried about missing a stop and them finding their way back. I’m not responsible for them but we’ve got several non-English speakers and out of 21 we’ve only got three Americans and six total that I would consider real travelers. I made them all install Uber and showed everyone enough tutorials that they’ve been using it in LA the last few days. That’s why they have checked bags, most turned it into a vacation with some families in tow.

I can’t use a formal car service (like charter a small bus) because most of the companies won’t let them expense that but everyone was ok with Uber and compared it to a taxi.

Going to prepare a warning and instructions with translate and try to buddy them up I guess.

Getting in at 2:27pm pacific so guessing 30-60mins for luggage/group up putting me looking for a way out of the airport around 5:15-5:45 local (I think it’s two Hours right now?). That’s all assuming no bumps, delays whatever of course.

Yea, that is pretty much the worst time. I'd highly suggest doing some prep and taking the Blue Line. It's a lot easier than it probably seems.

    Good luck

Thanks for the advice guys, going to look up the line, stops etc and make sure they pair up enough to keep it as clean as possible.

Regarding pizza, recently had Piece Pizza. Very good. The Boiler Room also has stellar pie.

Just booked our rooms for this weekend at the Doubletree in Magnificent Mile. Priceline was running a really good deal there.

Pizza - you want pequods or the art of pizza

Hot Dog - you want portillos or 35th st. red hots (right off the red line by sox park) or Jimmys red hots.

    For Tacos - L'Patron

Burger - Au Cheval (it's worth the wait) ....actually you must walk all the way down randolph . insane food scene.

It's seriously insanely easy. It picks you up in the airport and is $5 each.

Depending on how big your group is and who it consists of, though, an airport shuttle service wouldn't be bad either. We did that when I lived in Texas and had a work outing in Chicago with about 20 people.

    Pizanos sausage = winning.

Side note, pequods isnt really stuffed pizza, but most folks in chicago dont eat stuffed pizza, esp on the reg.

Portillos is the place she had already written down so it looks like that is confirmed.

Being from Texas I dunno if I can justify Tacos in Chicago....

The bolded just made me laugh.

So, I guess the question here at the end of the day is, if you were only able to get pizza once (because I can't get the fiancee down for pizza twice in three days). What is the one ultimate place you have to try?

Go the Lou Malnatis at 1120 North State Street. Great pizza, great location, close to where you are staying, and a lot of bars/shopping/etc. around there for before or after dinner.

Portillos is a chain, but it's a standard chicago style dog that others are judged on. even though its a chain, it's still good quality.

Get the cheese dip for the fries, gotta try an italian beef combo, wet.

and dont forget the chocolate cake milkshake. seriously. also the beer is cheap at portillos.

    Pizza.
    Pequods
    Piece

if you 'have' to have chicago style and you arent going to leave downtown, go to Lou Malnatis and get 1 deep dish and 1 thin crust OR go to Pizanos and get the thin crust.

No way. To each his own, I guess. I've honestly never heard anyone give Uno's their "best" recommendation.

    All this is very good.

Piece is phenomenal. Although not standard Chicago thin. I live a couple blocks away, so I naturally spend way too much time there.

I was skeptical the first time going there because we waited 1hr right at opening...but it was actually worth it.

Well, on the burger reference, I guess it depends on what type of burger you prefer. If you prefer a pub style burger, I would not recommend Au Chevelle. They do not cook burgers to a desired temp. All burgers are cooked well done.

If you prefer a pub style burger and you're going to be in River North, then I'd recommend the burger at Maple and Ash. That restaurant sources their hamburger meat from one of the best farms around which supports quite a few of Chicago elite restaurants. (Avec, Girl and the Goat, Little Goat, Owen & Engine, Signature Room, Michael Jordan's, Chop House, Hyatt, Purple Pig, and a bunch of others. Au is not on the list.)

You put your name in and go get some 3 Floyds at Lone Wolf for an hour, then they text you. It's not a big deal.

I just don't care for that style burger. I know it's a super popular place that everyone loves.
