It's not about hidden meanings, it's about taking lyrics out of context and enjoying them on a personal level. Dave may very well have written this exclusively as a song about making a woman cum....I can fully see that being the case and that's fine.
But that doesn't mean that I can't take a subset of these lyrics, and apply them to my life in a meaningful way. I mentioned it a few pages back, but the line about 'beautiful girl, take it easy on yourself make it easy on me' is one I relate to.....being in a relationship that is challenging and complicated, where you try to cheer up your spouse who may have difficulty being happy in life.
Once I have that context, then when I see the song performed live it really hammers that emotional resonance home. The combination of the way Dave sings the lyrics and the beautiful, under-stated Rashawn solo are all musical manifestations of how I react to the songs lyrics, and that line specifically. So then when Dave keeps repeating the Come On Come On refrain at the end, it feels like an emotional plea that once again hits home for me.
So in short, are the lyrics cheesy and about sex? Probably. But I've been able to still find merit in them, and the live experience is made way better because of it. Sucks I'm in the minority!
