Yeah, what stupid theories? This is a prequel, we know what is going to happen.

I think what the fuckwit MAY have been talking about is the Cinnabon Gene sequences. Lots of banter surrounding that storyline.

So...did Kim give jimmy the letter that she previously wanted to protect him from solely because she was feeling stressed over work and was kinda peeved that he slept late? Then she cried because it was actually really nice and the juxtaposition between what she was expecting and reality put how much of a bitch move that was in stark relief for her?

Because that’s what it felt like to me.

That scene made Gale's ultimate demise even more depressing.

Show feels a whole lot like Breaking Bad now without the Chuck storyline.

That's what I was thinking about too. His demise was what cemented BB as a truly impressive show to me. I had never seen a show create such conflicting feelings and simultaneous heartbreak before.

That's a good point, but yeah, it does feel like that a lot now. We must be getting pretty close. Basically every character with a story line but Kim (and Nacho?) is in BB, right? So the conflict that's left in BCS is finding out how Kim's storyline ends and at what point Jimmy makes the full transition to Saul, is that right?

That's a good analysis and you're probably right. When I watched it I was thinking she was crying because of the way she yelled at Howard assuming the letter was bad, but it turned out to be really nice. However, I forgot to think about why she decided to give the letter to Jimmy at all.

Or she was crying because of the completely unemotional and detached way that Jimmy was relating to the death of his brother despite the letter that Chuck wrote (apparently) trying to bury all of their grievances with each other. Maybe she can't stand to see how cold he has become to someone he once cared for very deeply.

Do we really care what happens to him though? He seems to only be there to be a sidecar to support the Chuck story line.

I don't really think anything needs to happen to hamlin for him not to be a part of BB. he has played his part in jimmy's life.

I don't really think it's this. However, it seemed clear to me that this letter was written well before jimmy and chuck really had their true falling out. so maybe she was crying over what was lost between the penning of that letter and chuck's death?

I kinda think it was my original thought though.

Did she give him the letter because she knows that he snuck out that night to do something likely shady and he also lied about it?

I am still curious as to whether, once we got caught up to Breaking Bad events, there is a significant story to tell with Cinnabon Gene in the present that multiple episodes will be dedicated to, or if those scenes exist exclusively as a referendum on the life Jimmy has to lead now as a result of his actions.

No, I know for a fact that the show runners have publicly stated the shows will overlap at some point - and considering everything happens for a reason in these shows I wouldn't think they were just there as a referendum, it's part of a bigger picture.

What exactly was the significance of the Mesa Verde stuff and then how Kim said she needed to go to the courthouse after that meeting? Is that somehow connected to her motivation for giving Jimmy the letter? Was she feeling quilty knowing that Mesa Verde would be needing her help for a long time on some major expansions and how Jimmy basically cheated to help her win the work? Was she feeling guilty about the way in which she won their work with Jimmy's help could have ultimately led to Chuck's suicide and the letter reminded her of that?

    yes exactly

chuck is the most meticulous person anybody who's met him has ever come across. he committed suicide. he knew he was going to die. he intentionally made jimmy's inheritance 5,000. and yet, he provides a years-old and totally outdated letter?

and the courthouse visit. something happened there. there's no way that entire segment is included in the show unless there was a reason.

was jimmy even actually reading what was on the paper? and kim knows that he's making it up because she's already read the letter, but can't tell jimmy that because it means revealing she read the letter already?

I have read in a couple of places the take that Kim is crying because she's sad that jimmy is so aloof about his brother's death. and to that I say, no fucking way. Kim might have hated chuck more than even jimmy did. she spent tons of time trying to convince jimmy to stop caring about what chuck thought. no way she's now all emotional because jimmy doesn't seem to care.
