Re: Album of the Day
ugh, I've become resigned to the fact that I'm just never going to really love a full j. cole project. for some reason, I continually see potential for him to put out a truly great album, but it just never materializes.
there are parts of his new record that I really like (KOD, Brackets), but some of his hooks and singing is borderline cringeworthy. his production work largely remains uninteresting and just sounds empty and dated sometimes. someone on twitter put it perfectly last week - this album is the kroger version of to pimp a butterfly. and I hate to compare it to kendrick because kendrick is unbelievable, but kendrick is doing what cole thinks he's doing. and he's just leaps and bounds ahead of cole in every way imaginable.
