Correct, but the jacket being numbered likely corresponds to nothing in terms of where in the production line each disc was pressed. Copy #3,000 could have been the first disc off the line, and #0001 could be the 5,000th through the production line

Had a lot to do today so didn't end up to the record store until 3:00 PM. Don't care though because they had free beer and a decent lineup all day. Picked up Superchunk's "Indoor Living," which had a free download of a live show. Obviously not a release limited to today but this is the first RSD I've gone out for in a long time. It was raining quite a bit so that helped limit the crowd. Chill fuckin day all around.

Yep, the numbers are just what order the jackets had their numbers punched onto them.

Pretty good RSD for me, no Ornette Coleman or the live Sun Ra at my store but other than that got everything I was looking for.
    The other 3 Sun Ra
    3 Tom Waits
    Living Colour
    Nas
    Chicano Batman
    The Beginning of the End

    a bunch of 7"
    Black Moth Super Rainbow
    Mac Demarco
    Coltrane
    Fleet Foxes
    both MC5
    Queers/Pink Lincolns

Took a chance on a couple things
Circle Jerks (glad I picked it up, ripping live album!)
Wilco (still not sure how I feel about Wilco, giving this a chance)

8-10 of the first 20 in line are the same each year, we all bring coffee/pastry to share. We all laugh that we spend 3-4 hours in line, to then spend 10 mins buying records. All in all a great morning.

Does anyone in here know reputable places online to find hard to get pressings?

I've perused Discogs, EBay, & Amazon in the past.

Most notably looking for Tom Petty - Wildflowers for less than half my monthly rent.

I'm confident Wildflowers will see a stand alone reissue eventually. The version they released in the second Petty box set is top notch, and I'd assume they'd use the same stampers when they eventually reissue it as a stand alone.

It took over an hour to get in the door even several hours after they opened. Despite that they still had a lot leftover.

Likely just a reissue/repress from the same stampers as the 2015 first release. Unless theres any info about a remaster, I'd assume this is just to prevent the album from going out of print.

This is what Bullmoose replied with about it: https://twitter.com/BullMoose/status/987320590754304000

Analog Spark's version of Ben Fold's Songs for Silverman is $14.95 on Amazon.

    https://www.amazon.com/Songs-Silverm.../dp/B01M7PR6BF

Temporarily out of stock, but if you order now you lock in the price and it will ship when they get more in.

I had that on my list until the day before I decided I was already spending too much and to cut it. I didn't think that I'd spin it enough to justify how much I was already planning to spend.

You saying that makes me regret my decision.

Super successful RSD for me! I wasn't planning on heading anywhere, but at 10:00 AM, my GF texts me and asks if I can grab the Fleetwood Mac - Tango in the Night Alternate and The National - the Boxer Live discs. Looked online and my local store was opening at 11:00 AM! I gave them a quick call, confirmed they were opening at 11:00 and got there at 10:45. There was about 2 dozen people ahead of me. The store laid out 5 bins marked by balloons with RSD releases. When the doors opened, everyone went to the bins and began flipping through. I knew what I needed to get, so as people flipped through, I'd grab the copy I was looking for.

Everyone was really really polite, I don't think anyone got into a fight over anything. If they did, I didn't hear it.

Not only was I able to grab the albums my GF wanted, I walked out with the following for myself:
    - Billy Breathes - Phish
    - Baby Huey - The Living Legend
    - Piper at the Gates of Dawn
    - Neil Young - Roxy Tonight's the Night

I had Dylan and the Dead in my hand while waiting in line, but put it back because I read the reviews online about the album when it came out...that scared me away from it.

Yesterday afternoon, I was looking on Reddit and Discogs and I kept seeing people talk about "Grant Green" and how awesome the release was. I turned on Spotify and realized I had missed something special. I kid you not, I looked on Discogs for the "Slick!" release, and a record store in Chicago had just put it up for sale no less than 3 minutes before I searched for retail value! It was almost $30-$40 cheaper than the rest of the copies. Needless to say, I snagged that on super quick too.

I know for a fact that I would have never gotten in line at 2:00 AM or dealt with RSD if it meant battling with 100+ people. It seems my experience was unique compared to other places, which I'm thankful for. I'd love to go again in the future and hopefully I'll have the same luck as this year!

I was super excited to pick this one up. I have a different pressing that is good, but not great. Sound like the proper time and effort was put into this one.

To the other poster who mentioned Guru-Jazzmatazz, that's a great album that doesn't get enough recognition. Roy Ayers plays vibes on one of the tracks and he is so damn good.

    .
Seriously, this is probably the BEST pressing I own of ANY record. Phish's Billy Breathes is also great.

Honestly, all the RSD releases I got were really well done, but Living Legends stands out as THE BEST.

Doby mentioned them being source -> vinyl (as was Luther). Curious who cut the lacquer and where they were pressed.
