***Official West Palm Beach 2018 Thread ***

Hadn't seen a thread yet for this stop. thinking about making the trip for the first time ever. Thoughts on the overall experience and things to do? I know it's been a destination for Ants parties in the past. Seems like a great 2-night stand each year.

Also, who's going?!

Moved to Florida from Rhode Island last year. I'm really looking forward to seeing a new venue that gets two-night stands, Mansfield used to years ago. Already booked a hotel. What is tailgating like here? I've never had issues in the lots before a Mansfield show. Any other tips?

It was a fun trip, mainly to go to the beach, to visit Miami, to see some friends - but the show itself was hot. I left there more sweaty than I've ever been in my life.

I was curious about this. are the shows always super hot? I'd imagine so.

Florida born here so the heat is normal to me. Love the shows, the sets and energy! Love hitting Tampa before, used to be just a warm up for WPB but lately have been getting really good sets.

Super excited to be heading to WPB for the first time from CO. It will be hot but well worth it to experience this state / venue that has been a staple since 96' and a reputation for a very good time. Any tips for camping? I am solo and looking to keep my expenses down with Woodlands, Dallas, and Colorado shows included for 18'. Cheers.

There’s no way I’d ever camp in Florida in the summer.

    Agreed.

Speaking as a Florida native, resident and one who enjoys camping- camping will not be a reasonable option in late July. Too wet and hot.

I mean it is a cookie cutter venue and can't remember anything good about the tailgate....so hopefully good sets.

The tailgate is not bad. The venue is pretty laid back & not aggressive towards tailgaters. But it is summer in Florida, so expect it rain sideways in the afternoon for 20 minutes then clear up and be miserably humid & hot. Living here you get used to it, kinda. WPB is always the "last stop" before the mid-tour break for the band. So the show has potential to be a little different, but in a good way.

So is no one going to Tampa? Surprised this wasn't a thread for all three FL shows.

I'm thinking about Tampa. Paying $115 plus fees for two lowers for 2018 DMB on an album tour seems steep. I sat in the upper pavilion in 2016 and it wasn't bad, I'm just going to see what's available. I just wish it wasn't on a Wednesday. I'd also like it if you'd still get the free download of the album after the tour starts so I could judge the sets before I shelled out the cash. Oh well.

Booked the Holiday Inn express right across the street from the amphitheater in Tampa and rented a sweet bungalow house 15 min from WPB venue. Can't wait!

Been going to shows at WPB since ‘04. Always have a blast but it is hotter then Hades. Make sure you have a canopy to hang under. You will bake if you don’t. Also hydrate too. I always bring a couple of shirts because you will sweat like a pig. And plenty of ice cold beer.

There have been some great ones but in my opinion they've been pretty phoned in performances in the last several years because they're ready to get the hell off tour for a month.

I know that has been the consensus lately in the past few years for some.

I still love the simple things like Chinese lanterns from the lawn coming into the pavilion crashing into the ceiling. Next song played is "Burning Down The House"

For the "priority show" if I am looking at Tampa and WPB x 2 would it be best to throw it on WPB N2?

That's what I did! Fingers crossed! Even though I'm not sure that priority selection has ever made much of a difference.

The problem with the tailgate for me is I can never get out of the pool at the hotel early enough... So I prefer to"poolgate".

Camping? First, I'm not aware of many places to camp in the area. Second, not only is it hot and humid as all fuck, it will rain. The rain will be violent, and scary with heavy lightning, possible hail and winds. Find a buddy that will share expenses.

The entire 2016 tour was mailed in, but 2015 was pretty good, band and Dave were having fun... I judge a show by Dave's actions on stage. When he's doing his "involuntary happy dance", not his bullshit cornbread, Thank you dance"-its a good show. Doesn't happen as much as it did in 1996, but it happened, as late as 2015..

here's video from 2015, from a song I've seen dozens of times

I had a blast here in 2015. It's either miserably hot or an all out rain storm.

I wish i didnt pick the lawn for the night it poured. Kinda ruined the show for me. N1 was awesome thoug.
