Re: 2020 Tour Rumors

TM 150% Credit update: Instead of clicking on the "Eligible Events" link I just went into DMB ATL 2021 for kicks and pulled up a pair of tickets, entered the 10-Digit "Credit Code" in the Promo Code field of the purchase, and it lowered the cost by the amount of the 150% credit. So it looks like it works for other shows, maybe once I hit complete it will reject the code, but looks like it's working to the point of reducing the cost by the amount of the credit.

do you still pay fees? Curious what the total was after the code.

Just got the LN/TM e-mail that my 150% credit can now be used. It was for a cancelled Lumineers show in ATL, so i type "Lumineers" in the search box for eligible events....nothing. Type in DMB...nothing. When I search on the dates 5/30/21 to 7/30/21 (next summer) for any events I get a total of 10 options across the country:

Last Podcast on the Left - Houston
    Kaleo - Indy
    Santana/EWF - Auburn, WA
    Lindsey Sterling - Phoenix
    The Format - Phoenix
    Lindsey Sterling - Philly
    Lane 8 - Phoenix
Joe Russo's Almost Dead - LA
    David Gray - Philly
    Kaytranada - Phoenix

    This is my shocked face.

You still pay fees (and I got a 50% bonus on the fees I paid on the original transaction):

    $516.00 = 2 tickets x $258
    $..99.34 = Services fees x $9.67
    $....2.95 = Order processing fee
    $618.29

    -$421.35 Credit

    $196.94 Due

As I played around with this to recreate it, looks like credit doesn't apply to resale tickets, only to "Blue" seats (Regular and Platinum)

Concerts and other large spectator events for summer 2021 I think is an incredibly optimistic notion.

    Re: 2020 Tour Rumors

I think that the first quarter of 2021 is definitely out, but the industry seems to be set on concerts happening next year, with all the reschedules (unless this is just a stall tactic to hold onto our cash). If they postpone again, i wonder how that works, 2020 becomes 2022? or do they just refund/cancel and start from scratch in 2022? Or is that guy referring to big festivals only? I couldn't care less about festivals, never was a huge fan of them, but really hoping to catch RATM next August (or ever at this point). Sounds like a vaccine should be available by Q1 2021, but i guess we shall see. Don't care either way, not putting my family at risk over a concert, but really missing live music.

I thought I recall reading somewhere that you COULD NOT buy resale seats with the credit. Which would make sense because then TM would essentially be paying out of pocket to those sellers... and we all know they wouldn't want to do that. haha

I know a lot of people are saying concerts might not return until 2022, but I can't foresee a whole other year where the industry can afford to take a hit like that. Besides the obvious good news of a few vaccines hopefully being available come the first quarter of 2021, I think summer should have some sort of return to normality. I'd imagine attendance will be down for a while as people find their sea legs again, but I do believe shows that were rescheduled will move forward.

kind of what I'm thinking. I think as long as vaccines are available for the most vulnerable (front line workers, nursing home residents/workers), they will let the rest of us pick our own risk appetite. Although, I want to say i have heard a delayed return to shows may have nothing to do with safety and more along the lines of not being able to secure event insurance policies and other liability/legal type issues (so basically financial issue).

Good point, and LN/TM would prefer to sell idle, unsold seats first. But they make fees a second time on resales as well, so why not

I imagine that by next summer, as long as we're not riding a 5th horrifying wave of coronavirus, and that numbers are down and the vaccine is good, it good probably happen. Unless, as was mentioned, the insurance problem.

I can also see bands/artists/LiveNation/Venues/Sports Teams suing government officials if they can't get back to work. I've got a feeling that after 2020 is over, these people aren't going to be willing to sit on the bench another year.

What exactly would the grounds of that lawsuit be?

I have no idea. But it’s already happening. Our governor in Ohio has countless lawsuits piling up against him already. I’m not saying it’s right or that I agree, but it is happening.

People file lawsuits they know have no chance all the time. Expensive, public tantrums.

Several lawsuits people have filed regarding opening their businesses revolve around having to carry liability insurance and not being able to be open. The argument is what is the point in being mandated to carry insurance if the government will not allow the venue to be open at all. If you have to insure against things then you should be allowed to be open.

I do know virus coverage and a mass health emergency is often NOT included in policies but for massive venues I have no idea if they have it.

Along the same token, many places/artists have insurance for shows being cancelled.

Seeing you top this thread got me excited. Now I'm sad. I do think it'll be Labor Day at the earliest for concerts. I'm cautiously optimistic that DMB could start the tour at the Gorge and finish the rest of the scheduled tour before doing a fall tour. But I think it's most likely that Spring 22 will be the earliest for a big tour.

Could see Labor Day, and maybe a brief winter tour depending on how vaccines go.

But I’m not making summer plans, I don’t have any hope of a summer tour in 2021.

I think summer is possible but unlikely. I hope it happens but wouldn't bet on it in Vegas

That Lollapolooza guy said that quote in July. While he may be right, a lot of progress has been made on the vaccine front. I think anything before August is probably not going to happen. That’s just my rough guesstimate. If mass vaccination begins in March or April, as predicted, it’ll still take a few months at least for it to circulate and have the desired effect.

All the DMB shows I would be attending are scheduled for next June, which I don’t see happening.

All my shows are set for September (Texas, Arkansas, STL, etc), but I dunno. We'll see I suppose.

That’s just my rough guesstimate. If mass vaccination begins in March or April, as predicted, it’ll still take a few months at least for it to circulate and have the desired effect.

All the DMB shows I would be attending are scheduled for next June, which I don’t see happening.
I think logically you are right on it but I thought I read somewhere TM is going to have people show vaccination proof or negative test results? I technically have tickets to the tour opener and have thought how odd it will be if that show actually happens. I kind of assume it won't.

The logistics of shifting June and July to indoor Fall / Winter shows seems like a logistical nightmare. Someone in the touring industry would know better, but I would assume it would make more sense to just cancel the entire summer tour and have a fresh Fall tour(I would be totally down for this, by the way).

Also, as I write this, realizing this is the 22nd anniversary of my first show. I guess 22 years ago today I was sitting in my seats in the 200 level of the First Union Center waiting for the show to start (I got inside before 7PM not knowing any better).

    Happy DMB anniversary!! I wish I could've seen a 98 show!

My first DMB show was on 6/19/2000 in Columbus. My big plan was to celebrate my 20th anniversary at the 6/19/2020 show at Deer Creek. Man, that would've been cool. I still might be able to celebrate my 21st anniversary on 6/19/2021 at Deer Creek, but I'm not banking on it!

The thing is that DMB have the entire month of August scheduled off in 2021. It's possible that maybe some of the earlier shows could be rescheduled for August if they need to. You could put some of the indoor arena shows (Grand Rapids, Uncasville) into a fall arena tour. Some of the outdoor dates in warmer areas like Florida, Atlanta, NC etc could be rescheduled for October, after the Oklahoma shows.

Who the hell knows? I'm extremely curious to see how this is all gonna turn out!!!

    That's cool - I actually got to celebrate my 20th at 11.30.18.

Yea, I don't know how easy it is too move only certain dates, offer refunds on those dates, etc...But maybe I'm wrong. I just don't see the June Moheagan shows happening.
